Overall I would say 3.5/5
In short, the hotel is decent for what it is, but the location is FAR from shinjuku station. 10-15 minute walk is fine at the start of the day, but on the way back after you've already walked 30k steps? It's hell. Next time I'll book a hotel closer to a station.
🌟 Was able to get a ride to and from the airport easily with the airport limo bus stop being right outside the hotel. This was the main reason I booked this hotel.
🌟 Lots of different complimentary toiletries (bath salts, face wash, eye masks, combs) at the check in lobby which is on the 2nd floor
🌟 There is paid laundry available on 2nd floor, however I did not use it. But the option is there, so it's convenient.
🌟 The underground walkway is open until around 10pm. It's useful for when it is very rainy! Follow the signs for the Government Building. (However on days it's not raining, I think it's faster to walk a straight line on ground level.)
🌟 Much less busy than the Main Washington Hotel, a lot easier to bring your luggages into the elevator
⚪ Yes, the walls are kind of thin, but I had quiet neighbors and ear plugs for sleep so it didn't really bother me, this might be hit or miss for you
⚪ Rooms are cleaned every 3 days, but towels and robe are refreshed every day. You can just put the door sign that asks for the full room to be remade if you want the sheets changed more often
⚪ The bedsheets and pillow cases are kinda low quality lol not that soft, kinda stale feeling. Not a deal breaker but just an FYI
❌ FAR walk from Shinjuku station. I usually love walking and 10-15 min walk is a breeze. But not at the end of the day when I've already walked over 30k steps. There's another station which is same distance walk, but confusing because it's not on the same street level, so easy to get lost. Again, I recommend the walking straight line on ground level to/from Shinjuku stn if weather permits. (or just stay at a dif hotel lol)
❌ Luggage storage experience was stressful. It's a self serve room with string locks, but half of the storage spaces are about chest height, meaning if you have a 23kg luggage and all the lower locks are taken? You're out of luck 😩 to mitigate this, I'd recommend packing your luggage the night before and bring it down to lock up so you can secure a spot for your heavy luggages. You can move stuff between your luggages after you check out. Horrible experience with this storage method.
❌ Not that big of a deal but there's not that many konbinis super near the hotel. There 2 "best" ones are both Lawsons, and the Mini Stop is a decent size, I'll give it 2nd place. The Family Mart in the main building...
Read moreEverything about this hotel is spot on—the location, the lot—except the bloody room temperature. It's all centrally controlled, isn't it? I've paid good money for an air-conditioned room, but all I've got is a knob that lets in more hot air. The room's already cracking past 25 degrees Celsius and climbing. And they know full well it's shite; that's why they've gone and stuck a Dyson fan in every room—there's even one at reception, showing off like they think it's some clever solution. Honestly, I've hardly slept worse in my entire life. I wouldn't stay in this place again if my life depended on it....
Read moreThe best part of this hotel is the location. It's inner Shinjuku but also a little out, walking is a must in Shinjuku! The rooms are for children, not full grown adults. Doors are tiny, bed, the room itself, very inner city style without ventilation. I wouldnt stay here over hotter weather. Service, never really had any encounter with staff, they seemed perfectly fine. However the staff at the Washington Hotel on L25 for breakfast were wonderful! Overall, if you don't stay in your room long, then it's a...
