We stayed here for 9 nights during our visit in Tokyo. It was an excellent stay.||||The Hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The location is just across the street from Gotanda Station in JR Yamanote Line, meaning you can reach every corner in Tokyo easily. Gotanda Station is also 1 station next to Shinagawa station, where you can take Shinkansens (every Shinkansen will stop at Shinagawa station) and also trains to Narita/Haneda Airport which is more comfortable compare with Tokyo Station.||||You can find a convenience store (711) next door and many eateries less than 5 mins walk around the Hotel. A big supermarket and department store is located nearby within 5 mins walk and connected directly with Gotanda Station.||||The Hotel does not have any restaurant but it has a restaurant tenant which is open for 24 hours. We also had our breakfast here at the restaurant. The menu was limited though. And the breakfast menu did not change during our entire stay :) so same menu every day.||||The room was very good and it has a washing machine and small kitchenette and we found the washing machine is really helpful. They also provide free detergent as well. Really helpful. ||||The only note that I have is that when I booked through Agoda, it did not inform us how much they charge for a child (10 yo), so I wrote to the Hotel about the extra charge. They replied and I agreed to pay. Later I found out that they charged me double compare with the rate at their website. When I checked in, I asked why they charged me double, they said because they upgrade me to next category of rooms (they did it without informing us they that they upgrade our room). So I think it is better to double check before you proceed with the booking.||||Also when I want to extend our stay, when I met the Front Office staff, he ensured that they would not charge me for extra charge. But when we checked out, the Hotel insist to charge me the extra charge (for our child). So again, please check and recheck.||||The staff were really nice and helpful even they could not speak English well, but they really tried.||||I would definitely...
Read moreA modest hotel. And that’s exactly why I liked it.
By the time we checked into Tokyu Stay in Gotanda, we were cooked. Three weeks deep into Japan—trains, stairs, temples, alleyway izakayas, sensory overload. Beautiful, brilliant, and exhausting. We needed a place to crash. Somewhere to do laundry and lick our wounds. Tokyu Stay delivered.
This isn’t some sleek capsule hotel or chic ryokan with tatami mats and matcha service. It’s a modest business hotel built for people who need a bed, a bathroom, and maybe a little solitude. You do your own thing. And honestly, that’s the appeal.
Clean, quiet, and efficient as hell—because it’s Japan, and of course it is. There’s a 7-Eleven on the corner that’s open all night and stacked with enough fried things and onigiri to satisfy any late-night craving or sake-fueled regret. The train station? Practically in the lobby. You walk out the door, blink, and you're on the platform. Perfect for that last leg to Tokyo International. Let’s talk amenities: There’s a washer and dryer in the room. Game changer. Anyone who’s lived out of a suitcase knows—going home with clean clothes? That’s luxury. That’s better than a minibar and a pillow menu. That’s civilized.
The staff don’t hover. But they’re there. They hold the door. They smile. They make you feel like your quiet little stay matters. And maybe it does.
This wasn’t some unforgettable night in a bamboo forest or a meal that changed my life. But it was a moment of comfort at the end of a long, beautiful trip. It was clean sheets, warm water, and the sound of a washing machine reminding you that life keeps going.
So, thanks to the folks at Tokyu Stay. You gave us exactly what we needed: a good bed, clean clothes, and last few quiet nights in Tokyo. Sometimes, that’s more...
Read moreThis is a business hotel that is located precisely accross the main road. It means you can easily hail a taxi, enter the train station from an entrance in front of the hotel or walk for a few minutes, and choose any breakfast, lunch or dinner from nearby restaurants. However, you will also hear sirens from ambulances and the fire deparment going back and forth in the main road. You can never predict when they will pass because that is the nature of emergency cases. If you stayed for just a few days and you spent time at the hotels only in the evening, it would not bother you that much.
In terms of room cleaning, this hotel has an interesting cleaning schedule. As long as I remember, if you stayed for one or until six nights, they will clean your room daily. If you stayed for more than seven nights, they will only clean your room once a week. You can take out your trash bin and they will return it with a clean empty trash bin. If you stayed for more than a week, just make sure to keep your room clean or have some cleaning tools ready with you such as roller or a handy broom.
I stayed in a twin room with a kitchen, a washing machine, a fridge, and a microwave. This is a good room for travellers who are staying for more than a week or for families. The hotel allows you to cook, but make sure you follow their rules. As for doing laundry, they provide detergent in your room and you can choose one softener to borrow for free from the front desk.
In terms of hospitality, the receptionists are doing fine. Some of them can speak English, at least good enough to help you checking in and out. Since I stayed for days, the staff who already knew me would open the guest rooms access so that I did not need to tap my card. What a...
