Visiting Koshuichiba Gotanda was a lively and enjoyable experience. The energy in the place was immediately apparent, with the staff buzzing around the open kitchen and the waitress attentively refilling tea and guiding diners through the various sauce combinations for their wontons. The "wonton eating guide" on the table added a nice, quirky touch.
I ordered the wonton noodles and Lu Rou fan set, which were the highlight of the meal. The broth was flavorful and the wontons were tender, but the real star was the vat of crispy chili oil placed table side. It added a perfect spicy kick and richeness to the dumplings and broth. Although the fried chicken set looked amazing, had to opt out, as it would have been too much food. However, the braised pork belly rice bowl on the side was a rich and satisfying complement to the noodles, especially with a splash of white vinegar.
Though far from polished, the overall vibe of the place was upbeat and casual, making it an ideal spot for a quick, cheap, and delicious meal. At 1000jpy for a generous set meal, it's definitely worth returning to explore more of the menu. For people in the area, Koshuichiba Gotanda is a great stop for a hearty and affordable...

Large portion for the price.
Couldn’t resist the spicy wonton ramen they had as the seasonal special.
I had only the medium spicy and it was too spicy for me. Beware. Challengers accepted.
All wontons are had made in the shop and I think I had at least 7 in my bowl. And yes there are noodles underneath too!
The pork rice is def worth it for less than ¥300, juicy meat and tasty.
There were 4 different sauces that you can use with the wontons which the server kindly explained and recommended his mixing ratio. I couldn’t taste anything except spicy hot chilly peppers so maybe I’ll try again with a milder soup.
Yes, highly recommended if you are hungry and craving for flavor.
I will come back again for a...
Read moreWonton soup restaurant offering a lighter alternative to typical ramen shops. The soup comes in clear varieties - salt or soy sauce base - and it's decent enough.
You have options for your wontons: shrimp, pork, or a mix of both. This flexibility is nice for catering to different tastes or dietary preferences.
The noodles are somewhat underwhelming but serviceable. They're not the star of the show here.
This place is a good choice if you're in the mood for something less heavy than a typical oily ramen. It won't blow you away, but it's a solid option for a lighter, soup-based meal.
Overall, it's worth a visit if you're looking for wonton soup specifically or just want a break from heavier noodle...
