An absolute highlight of our Japan trip!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here at Tsuchiya, which is a family run ryokan nestled in Kinosaki Onsen town. We spent just one night here, which was sufficient to get the most out of our time. The owners were welcoming and friendly, providing an authentic glimpse into the Japanese onsen town experience.

After check in, you are introduced to your bedroom and served tea. The hotel provides the yukata and geta sandals, allowing you to experience walking down the streets and wandering in and out of different onsens in the town. My pro tip is to also bring your own flip flops or shoes along as you may not be used to walking/balancing in the geta.

The owners had great English and I appreciate that they took the time to explain the culture and customs (such as how to walk in geta and how to put on your yukata). They also helped us take photos, and provided us with a lovely handwritten note and framed picture as a souvenir. SO CUTE!

The rooms were surprisingly spacious and very clean, with a tatami mat floor. The futons are made when you are out and about in the town, which is a lovely surprise to come back to. The futon was very comfortable and felt heavenly after an evening spent soaking in the onsens. The hotel also has a private onsen which does not require a reservation - super relaxing later at night and in the early morning.

I highly recommend using the hotel's service to send your luggage to the train station when you check out - it frees up your chance to explore the town without having to lug your bags around, and the hotel is located right at the back of the town.

A standout experience for us, and we have not stopped raving about it and recommending it to all our friends. We...

We spend 3 days 2 nights visiting Kinosaki Onsen from 8-10 April. Weather is good still cold especially night. |We arrived late at night using last train from Shin Osaka 7.00 pm and arrived in Kinosaki station 10.30 pm. We should transfer 2 times in Fukuchimaya and Toyooka since we missed the express direct train.|After arrived in Kinosaki we used taxi to hotel since shuttle is only until 18.00 pm. Walking is about 10 minutes. |Taxi is about JPY 640.|The location of the hotel is not in front of the station but should walk a few minutes.|The hotel is good and room is big enough can be used by 4 people. All bed is using Tatami. One hotel consist about 7 rooms and we spend 5 rooms. So the hotel only serve us during that day.|The hotel have 2 shared bathrooms all in the ground floor and quite big since there is little onsen inside the bathroom. The Toilet is different with bathroom. Each room have toilet but no shower room.||We get a very good service from the hotel. They bring us to Aqua Marine using their own car. They are very helpful. The service is directly from the owner and her son.||We try one onsen from 7 onsen in this area but very crowded thus we only take photo outside onsen building. We just returned back to hotel and used Hotel onsen.|About restaurant, most of them closed around 6.00 pm. You will difficult to find restaurant after this hour. Alternatively you may go to Toyooka using train about 10 minutes. Its free...

This a family owned business. They were all super friendly, informative, and nice. We felt really welcomed and the service was top notch.

We were greeted when we first came by the son who spoke English very well and was excited in talking to us and getting to know us. He took pictures of us and even framed a photo for us. They also brought our bags to our rooms during check in.

The mom who is the owner was very friendly and helped me get dressed correctly when my outfit was too long. She also answered questions and was lovely to speak to. They brought out our beds for us when we went to the onsen.

The sister was also nice as well. She was in the cafe working for breakfast. Breakfast was super good. I recommend everyone to try the breakfast. One of the best egg sandwiches I ever had and lattes were cute to look at.

At checkout, they took our bags to the information center while we adventure the area a bit (for no cost). The mom also let us borrow an umbrella when it was raining (in which we dropped off at the information center to be returned).

I would totally book this place again (and add the dinner as well since we forgot to book the dinner included). They also gave us necessities needed for our stay and for the onsens. The private onsen was relaxing as well and not busy so it was a good way to end our night there. Location was good as it was close to good food locations and the...

I had a great stay at this ryokan style hotel that has a great location and very friendly service. Operated by a mother and son who were so sweet and accommodating. I had a pleasant one night stay there. I also learned this hotel just had their grand opening earlier this month so everything is brand new! Pros: - The host will pick you up from and drop you off at the Kinosakionsen train station for free. - Great location. Less than 5 minutes walk to Konoyu onsen and Mandarayu onsen. - Like most ryokans in Kinosaki, included in your stay is a yukata (traditional outfit) and shoes you can wear when visiting the public onsens. - Great breakfast included in stay. I had french toast and hazelnut latte while my partner had egg sandwich with matcha latte. - 2 private onsens on-site. However, large enough for only 1 to 2 people. Cons: - This didn't hinder our stay, but know there is no shower in the rooms. Only a toilet and sink. To shower, you must use the shower in the on-site onsen on the first floor. You will shower at the public onsens anyway. Overall, I had a great stay and highly recommend this very new ryokan hotel run by very friendly staff.
