Soft Kobo Soft Serve Ice Cream — Restaurant in Toyooka

Small place where you can refresh yourself and rest after Onsen. They serve many types of ice cream and they also have Cremia that went viral on TikTok and everyone recommends it in Kyoto.

I took the mix and it really was one of the best soft serves ever. Super rich and creamy, good flavour, the texture feels so pleasant in your mouth. And it tastes especially good after you just had a hot onsen. The cone tastes similar to French Sablé Breton. Buttery and rich.

The place was run by one woman, who was very nice. Generally there isn't that much space for sitting. There are only a few benches, but most people don't stay that...

One of the food stalls that are still open at 9pm, this stall seemed rather popular. There's space inside to eat. I had the blueberry rare cheese soft serve with a waffle cone (¥500). The blueberry taste came out a lot stronger while the cheese taste was more muted. The prices for soft serve ice cream are generally the same in the entire town, so I guess it's really more of a situation of seeing where many people visit. I could not understand the hype...

Ice cream was great and the Ghibli music playing in the background gives a nice atmosphere. However, the store clerk requested ¥1,000, I handed her a ¥10,000 note, and got no change back. When I complained, she showed me the previous customer's ¥1,000 note saying I had paid with that. Really did not expect this in Japan.

In sum: good ice cream, but not worth ¥10,000...
