I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the experience I had during my recent stay at the Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Hotel. I would like to bring your attention to an incident that left me feeling insulted and frustrated.
On the morning of 3rd Apr, during my two-night stay at your hotel, I had made a reservation for the breakfast buffet at restaurant Le Jardin. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was instructed by the staff to take a number ticket for registration and then asked to join the line. I found this queuing system to be confusing and redundant. Why was I required to take a number if I still had to wait in line? Nevertheless, I followed the instructions given to me.
To my surprise, when I reached the front of the line, I was informed by the staff that I could not enter as my ticket number had not been called yet. I was asked to rejoin the line and wait again. This process was repeated multiple times, leaving me feeling as if I were being played in a queuing game. I must express my frustration at the implementation of this "double line up" rule, which I found to be both illogical and unnecessary. When I voiced my complaint about this rule, the staff responded impolitely, dismissing my concerns by stating that "everybody is treated the same." However, I strongly disagree with this statement.
I have traveled extensively and have never encountered such a stubborn and nonsensical queuing system in any other country. It is disheartening to think that this is considered a Japanese or Nikko-style practice. I feel insulted and belittled by being subjected to such a game-like procedure. If such a system is in place, I implore you to reevaluate its effectiveness and consider making improvements. Simply stating that "everybody is treated the same" does not excuse the flaws in this system, as other countries have managed to implement more efficient and customer-friendly practices.
Furthermore, I would like to address another issue that I encountered during my stay. It is my observation that the Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Hotel does not cater to an international clientele, as evidenced by the lack of English proficiency among the staff. I believe that English is a fundamental requirement for any hotel operating in a global setting. It is disappointing to hear a staff member respond with "English, me no" when approached for assistance. This suggests that the hotel is primarily focused on serving Japanese guests. Consequently, it reinforces my belief that everything, including the queuing system, is designed with a Japanese-style approach.
I cannot overlook the fact that I felt insulted by the queuing game and the impolite attitude displayed by your staff. As a result, I have decided that I will never stay at any of the Nikko properties again. I urge you to take this complaint seriously and address the shortcomings I have highlighted. It is with great disappointment that I highly discourage others from considering the Grand Nikko Tokyo Bay Hotel for their future stays.
I hope that you will take the necessary steps to rectify these issues and improve the overall experience for your guests. Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreThe hotel is located conveniently close to Disneyland and offering a free shuttle service to both the theme park and the train station, Grand Nikko Hotel Tokyo Bay Maihama initially appears to be an ideal choice for travellers seeking proximity to the magical world of Disney. However, beneath its grand exterior lies a plethora of shortcomings that significantly detract from the overall guest experience.||Let's start with the positives. Undoubtedly, the hotel's proximity to Disneyland and the provision of a free shuttle service are major draws for families. Additionally, for couples in search of a wedding venue, Grand Nikko Hotel Tokyo Bay Maihama offers elegant spaces and facilities tailored to such occasions.||However, these positives are overshadowed by numerous drawbacks that mar the hotel's reputation. The lack of basic family-friendly amenities, such as a pool, is particularly disappointing. Additionally, the absence of other standard hotel features further compounds the issue.||One of the most glaring downsides is the hotel's breakfast system, which can only be described as inconvenient. Guests are provided with vouchers and are required to make online reservations for breakfast by 6 a.m. This cumbersome process often results in lengthy wait times, ranging from 70 to 100 minutes, leaving guests frustrated and hungry and not to add that when you do get downstairs for breakfast, you still need to queue and present said voucher. You would think that already waiting 70mins for a slot will minimise quiening time. We're always out at lunchtime, so can't speak much about the menu, however, the dinner menuis very limited, consisting of only three items, and fails to offer a satisfying dining experience.||Furthermore, the hotel's lack of recreational activities and amenities is striking. Instead of utilizing available space to enhance guest satisfaction, areas such as the Rainbow Lounge and the wedding shop seem superfluous and fail to add value to the overall guest experience. The dedication of significant space on the 12th floor exclusively for wedding-related purposes further reinforces the perception that the hotel prioritizes weddings over the comfort and enjoyment of its guests.||Despite its grand façade, the interior of Grand Nikko Hotel Tokyo Bay Maihama leaves much to be desired. The rooms can be described as basic at best, failing to provide the level of comfort and luxury expected from a hotel of its caliber.||In summary, while Grand Nikko Hotel Tokyo Bay Maihama may excel as a wedding venue and offer convenient access to Disneyland, its numerous shortcomings, including inadequate amenities, a flawed breakfast system, and a lackluster dining experience, ultimately detract from its appeal. For travelers seeking a well-rounded hotel experience, alternative accommodations (like the Hilton across the road) may prove to be a more...
