Tokyo Disneyland Hotel ( TDH) ||Convenient location for Disney ||Upon arrival the staff were very confused about our reservation, going through their notes outside the front entrance of the hotel ( in the freezing cold!) Not what we needed after a long 10 hour flight and a one hour taxi ride to the hotel! |Spoken English is very scarce with the staff here. We of course try and speak Japanese, but for a Disney hotel full of worldwide guests, it really would be helpful to have staff that speak good English. |The check in line inside was busy, but |Depending on your room type and package There is a small club lounge where you can check in which serves drinks and has seats, so since we were eligible with our room this was much better and we were directed there once they found our reservation.||The whole check in progress was difficult due to the language barriers again, thank goodness we had Google translate to help. It still took a really really long time. |Also No one offered us any information about the hotel facilities, restaurants within the hotel, the monorail, park ticket options and packages for the rides.|It was very very challenging. They simply did not have the language skills, even printed paper with all of this on would be really useful.|By the time we managed to be heading to our rooms. It was pretty late and I asked one of the staff where can we eat dinner and they finally managed to tell us that the buffet restaurant Sherwood Garden restaurant was the only thing available and would be closing in 20 minutes. So we ran down there quickly. |The food in the Sherwood Garden restaurant is poor quality for a hotel of this rating. Very basic selections and overall quality. The same for breakfast which was also served there. So we only went once in our 4 night stay.|Our absolute lifesaver was the restaurants at IKSPIARI shopping mall nearby which you can take the Disney monorail to get to from TDH.|Here there are lots of varied types of restaurants, better quality food, and fast foods like Starbucks and Mc Donald’s and a big supermarket in the basement.|The Disney monorail, which stops right at the TDH hotel, requires paid tickets. |It is by far the best way to get back and forth from Disneyland and DisneySea. |Also IKSPIARI.|The tickets are purchased at the monorail station.|We bought a 3 day pass knowing that we’d be going to Disney Sea and IKSPIARI again and again for food, so more economical than a day ticket. |There are 4 stops on the monorail each takes approx 3 minutes.|For IKSPIARI, get off the monorail at the RESORT GATEWAY station- this same station also joins with JR Maihama station, where you can get National Japan trains.||Our Magic Kingdom suite was spacious with lovely views of the park entrance and Disney castle. |The room was very clean and had good quality amenities, but well worn and old fashioned interiors. The whole hotel is very dated and would benefit from a refit.|A plus point is there is a convenience shop inside the hotel selling food, drinks snacks & Knick knacks.|There is also a self laundry, with around 10 coin operated machines & dryers.||Other points ..Very comfy beds and a lovely duvet, clean pyjamas provided daily.|In MK suites you get an Extra single bed in next door lounge area for a child or additional adult plus there is also a sofa bed in lounge so good for families. ||In the parks, the cast members are very attentive, but again not much English spoken anywhere. |If needed, you can hire a wheelchair or baby buggy at the entrance to the park.||Disney hotels are always expensive but usually for that cost you feel that you get a lot of excellent services and extras. There are usually Disney characters at the breakfast too and the service is outstanding, but honestly, that was not the case here I would say that unless you truly need the doorstep Location stay at another hotel Nearby and pay far less, then just hop on a train to the parks.||Finally, I’ve also noticed that no management from TDH never respond to any of the reviews here on...
Read moreWanted to drop into Tokyo Disney whilst around and I have to say that the Hotel and Staff were extremely accomodating, as you’d expect. A notable mention to Suzuki in the concierge room with her pleasantries both within the room and bumping into her as she was knocking off. ||Whilst I have a smile from ear to ear being here and more so venturing into the parks, there were some downfalls that may more be attributed to expectations as opposed to other.||Positives- beautiful venue, staff all ever so helpful and venue location to Disneyland was unmatched - literally walk out the rear of hotel and you are at the first entrance gates. ||The shops, once navigated were terrific - especially the ‘convenience looking glass’ store on 1F that you could get beverages, food and more so you weren’t having to outlay considerable dinner costs at Gardens buffet for example - 750 yen drink you could get for 180-300 10 metres away.||Whilst the buffet was great, significantly overpriced IMO - should drinks have been included (soft drinks/juice) it would have made it more appealing. We did eat at the buffet, and food was fresh and varied from local cuisine to western and a mixture in between.||Other positives were size of room, cleanliness, fitout (table/chairs/alcove seating), bath/shower were excellent both heat and pressure, as was fridge and location of ice machine.||The opulence of the venue was unmatched.. the breakfast lobby (3f) was a nice venue / high ceilings and well catered for buffet - western and local. ||For improvement: concierge room read as a club floor sort of (but not - has cold drinks and evening cocktails, but no real food) and could have had the cooler up a little more in the summer heat. ||Tips on how to use the park - more than just saying ‘download app’ around fast passes and more. It was interesting that you pay to stay at a Disney venue and no guarantees of various parks (fantasy springs) - even just a tip from a Disney run hotel on time to line up for entry with fast pass (oh this is another thing) would be nice.||Another thing I found peculiar was in room dining was limited, no burgers etc etc… it’s like they were encouraging to eat at Disneyland and not there… would have been nice to grab a burger and fries from a nostalgic US themed business - maybe I was expecting too much here though? ||Whilst I’ve added some negative, they do not negate the experience provided by hotel and staff (overly helpful at all engagements) nor should it deter anyone considering staying here.||One final comment, after a long day walking and more, take advantage of the massage services… highly commend Daigo who diligently worked her beauty skills on this ageing man in some need of relaxation. Highly recommend snd they perform massages til the wee hours (think end 3am)..||Thanks for the optical magic and...
Read moreEnglish speaking tourist couple first trip to Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, staying here for 3 nights and visiting the parks, visiting mid April. I hope this review is helpful for similar future visitors.
Overall our experience at the hotel was great: large rooms, and breathtaking view of the castle and DisneySea volcano.
We booked a premium room 4-8th floor and it wasn’t clear whether we would have a good view from the booking, but when we arrived, it seems all rooms face the park-side of the hotel (some more courtyard view than park view). Not sure if we got lucky or all premium rooms have a similar view. We watched the Disneyland fireworks show from the window every night and listened to the music until they wind down at 10:30pm.
Check in was fairly smooth, though something I have learned is they do not really seem to bend the rules here at all. Early check in did not seem possible, but they will hold your luggage and deliver it to your room by 430pm. Just hold on to your key and you should be able to get in by 3pm.
We ended up buying day-of park tickets at the hotel after check in. I was initially nervous because I had not purchased tickets for our arrival day because I didn’t know what time we would get there, and the app was only showing options for the 3pm entry. However, hotel guests are guaranteed tickets no matter what the online availability says, and we were able to get full day tickets after we checked in around noon.
The hotel has a small well stocked store for some snacks/light food and basic necessities, including umbrellas for rainy days.
The bad:
The hotel is just steps from Disneyland entry and a monorail stop, which is great. However early park entry is only 15 minute prior to regular entry, which they receive through dedicated early entry lines. This is nice but barely enough time to get in before they start letting regular guests in. So it’s more of a “fast pass” park entry compared to the hour long extra time you’d expect at the park in Disney World. Considering how many visitors come from the city and leave on the metro line at night and are not staying on property, they should provide more value and priority for those staying at on-property hotels.
Also, for some reason early entry for Disneyland Hotel to DisneySea is suspended until further notice. I have no idea why this is, but seems unfair.
The pool is only open in the summer. The monorail is paid but honestly not a big deal, as I’m sure it helps keep crowds down.
The stay was great but got the sense that they do not value on property hotel guests like they do at Disney World, so just be...
