A supremely centrally located hotel for travellers who are looking for something slightly more laid back than central Tokyo. |Hotel Associa is located directly above Shin Yokohama's shinkansen station, then steps & levels from Yokohama's JR lines & floors above the local Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line, SotetsuTokyu Shin-Yokohama Line.||Whilst the Shin Yokohama location can be considered a fair distance from Yokohama (all 11km...), it is more than extremely accessible & has more than enough to keep you connected & entertained. Shopping & restaurants galore!!||Hotel Associa's Lobby is located on the 10th floor, with rooms extending above.|It rates as a 4-star hotel on major booking apps. Whilst it isn't the cheapest accommodation in Japan by any standard, if you do your research & preplan, you can make some reasonable savings, in comparison to equally rated hotels. |There are multi lingual staff at reception who are happy to assist with check-ins, questions & I'm sure many other aspects of hotel stays.|In the 3 times we have stayed, we have felt welcomed, extremely comfortable & very well situated. |The rooms we have stayed in are reasonably sized from the perspective of Australian tourists (we can struggle with "shoe box" sized rooms. Ha! Ha!) |Our selection has always been a |25 sqm room, which is quite comfortable for 2 adults with luggage. The rooms are pleasantly comfortable, modern & very effectively soundproof, considering the location.|There are views from the rooms in which we have stayed that allows us to see all the way to central Yokohama. With trained eyes, you can watch the incoming planes for both Haneda & Narita Airports. But, the immediate goings-on in the near locations to the hotel can prove just as interesting! |We have sat, drink in hand, watching the day's end & the birth of the night on several occasions. It's quite the human hive!|There is a choice of 2 restaurants within the hotel, so breakfasts, etc. can be catered for.|Just steps outside the lobby, there is a wealth of restaurants catering to almost any palette. This continues through multiple floors, right down to the train station kiosks & "kombini" (convenient stores).|Although it is furthest from our minds when staying, there is a fitness room available for guests & other optional wellness services. |From quality to location, accessibility to comfort, staff friendliness to hotel services, I would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Associa,...
Read moreMy first visit to Tokyo and Japan was memorable, largely due to this hotel, which exceeded my expectations. Finding it was a bit tricky since it’s located inside a train station; you need to go to the first floor and look to the right for the elevator. There are signs, but you might have to search a bit. Once you find it, you realize it’s within a large mall that offers everything from dining to salons and shops.||The hotel occupies the top floor of this high-rise, providing stunning views. I stayed on the top floor with an incredible view of Yokohama Harbor. The check-in process was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who tried their best to communicate in English while I practiced my Japanese.||If you’re a club member, you’ll have access to a lounge with delicious drinks, a nice view, and a relaxing atmosphere. The room itself was well-equipped with every amenity I could need. I was particularly impressed by the shower pressure, the cleanliness of the bathroom, and the high-tech toilet—it was such an experience that I could have spent hours using it!||Conveniently, there are built-in chargers by the bed, and the room features a large TV. Breakfast is served on the ground floor as a buffet—it was decent, though not extraordinary. Each floor has an ice machine and water stations to refill your bottles. If you're heading to Haneda Airport, there's a bus service for just 1,000 yen, which is much cheaper than a taxi or navigating the train with luggage. They also offer a luggage delivery service if you inform them a couple of days in advance.||Although this hotel is a bit farther from the city center, the train station below makes it easy to access. I did struggle with the train system initially, so I recommend getting a transit card to avoid the hassle of finding exact change. You can refund the 500 yen deposit at the airport or other transit locations, so plan accordingly.||This hotel is also an excellent choice if you're taking a cruise or traveling to Kyoto or Osaka since the bullet train runs directly beneath it. Despite its location, I found the hotel to be incredibly quiet, and I had the best sleep in the most comfortable bed I've ever experienced in a hotel.||I can’t recommend this place highly enough and will definitely stay here again. Read moreMy own experience is one off unpleasant one, however it should not shun from the fact that it's strategically located with both local rail n bullet train station in its vicinity. There are various restaurant and retails in the same building. It's view is also stunning both day and night.
The good part of it as an hotel is that lounge with free drinks are open to its guest with no charge. Room are big in Japanese standard with international standard size bath tub. Staff are verse in English and are very approachable.
If you are here looking to visit Yokohama you will be a little disappoint. It's 8km away from all main attractions with a minimum of 20mins train rides, safe from a ramen museum a stone throw away. If you are a night animal I have to disappoint you again. All stores and eatery in the vicinity closes by 9pm. Other than a pharmacy/supermarket that close at 11pm, you have only 3 convenient stores at 5,10,15mins intervals away by walking.
My personal experience is a pretty bad since the beginning. I request for a twin room but it's out after 3 days of accepting my reservations. On top of that, on the day of my stay when I reach out my bed about to call it a night, I found lots of stain which could be blood or body fluid at the center of my bed sheet. This should not be happening in a four star hotel let alone in Japan where cleanliness and quality is paramount.
I called the duty manager Mr Takashi Kitahara, which did a commendable job to personally change the sheets in less than half an hour. He did offer me another room but I politely declined as it's a troblous to shuttle between two floors for my luggage and the room I'm sleeping in. I must compliment his resolute spirit for getting things done right. Although this should not happen in the firstly place. Hope it's a one off for the guest there.
Overall nice hotel and room. Far from most attractions. Convenient enough for some...
