This hotel is located in the higher area of Yufuin. They have their own hotel bus service at the Yufuin Station if you are arriving by train. They will also bring you back to the station upon check-out. You just need to check the pick-up time to and from the hotel. You can also ask the tourist information in the station for assistance. While waiting for the bus in the station, you can eat or go around the stores near the station. ||||Hotel is not new but service is good. They don't speak fluent English so use an app that will translate it for you. Show the translation to them and communication is much easier. Use ITranslate app. ||||The bedroom we got has a view of Yufuin town although there is a concrete portion in front of our balcony. Inside the room, you will feel the real Japanese lifestyle. The tea table is all set up for our use. We also have 2 sets of Japanese robe/pajamas. I noticed that you use one to go to the onsen and the other you wear when you get back. This is just my observation on how the Japanese locals dress up for onsen. ||They set up the tatami mats when we got back for dinner to sleep. Be ready to sleep on the floor. It comes with a good comforter which I put under me when I want to feel some comfort for my back. In the bedroom, there is only a powder/toilet room. No bathroom. You will really have to use the onsen as that is what the area is known for. Inside the onsen, they have several lockers to store your belongings. The onsen is big and has a lovely view. The hot spring relieves your tired muscles from all the travelling. ||||The breakfast and dinner food is okay nothing fancy. You eat dinner the Japanese way - sitting on the floor. They also have vendo machines near the onsen should you need to buy some food or drinks.||||To get to other places, you need for them to call a taxi. The reception people will assist you and they will give you a paper that you will show to the taxi driver when you want to get back to your hotel. ||||Had a good experience with the hotel. Good service. It would be better if they can start updating the rooms and other facilities and still retain the Japanese ambiance. I think for the price I paid, i...
ย ย ย Read moreLocated on a mountainside in Yufuin, Yufuin Onsen Yufuin Nanairo no Kaze presents a unique lodging experience that blends picturesque views with a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. Originally part of a large resort complex, the property now operates only a portion of its former facilities, which can give the place a somewhat desolate or eerily quiet feel, especially during off-peak seasons.
While the rooms and onsen facilities are maintained to a satisfactory standard, other amenities are extremely limited. There are virtually no in-house dining options outside of pre-arranged meals, and purchasing even basic snacks or drinks on-site is challenging. Guests should come prepared with any essentials, as the property does not offer the full range of services typically expected from a resort of this scale.
That said, for travelers seeking a peaceful and affordable onsen experience, this accommodation offers excellent value. The highlight of the stay is undoubtedly the open-air baths with unobstructed views of Mount Yufu (Yufudake). Soaking in the warm mineral waters while taking in the scenic mountain landscape is a deeply relaxing experience that justifies the stay on its own.
Although the location is somewhat remote and not easily accessible via public transportation, those traveling by rental car will find it a worthwhile destination. Especially for budget-conscious travelers prioritizing tranquility and onsen culture over modern conveniences, Yufuin Nanairo no Kaze offers a quiet charm and a memorable stay amid the...

Most Ryokan of this price, you'd expect certain level of Japanese service, a high level of cleanliness and Japanese procedure. However, most of this fell short. Staff was nice but not in a traditional Japanese way.
Food was unfortunately well below average, the dinner was rushed, food was served on top of each other before you even finished the last which in our opinion was it's biggest downfall, at one stage we had 3 different course infront of us, the whole meal was served within 45 mins.
The room itself was dated, the in room onsen on arrival was cold, you have to adjust the temperature yourself (no instructions just "here's the hot tap", I've stayed at dozens of onsen ryokans before and have never experienced that. We turned the hot tap on and left it on for 30 mins, and it was boiling hot, and one of us burnt her foot. Not sure how guests were expected to know what the correct temperature. Very disappointed.
Public bath was better, it was clean.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. For the price, there are plenty of...
