My overall rating is 5 because the staff and location are wonderful. I will warn you however that if you have mobility issues, then I don't recommend you stay here. The reception is on the first floor but the rooms are on the second floor and you must climb steep narrow steps because there is no elevator. The "western style" rooms have no shower or bath so you have to climb down the stairs to the basement to the Japanese style ofuro. You also have to reserve a time to bathe. The Onsen doesn't have a handrail and if you have balance or joint problems be very careful getting in and out. There are limited electric plug receptacles in the rooms. The room was very clean and quite large and had an ensuite toilet and offered a great view of the Mt.Yufudake especially just after sunrise when the sun finally hits the summit. Breakfast was simple but good. Hardboiled eggs, bread, jam, juice and milk and coffee. It's always a a good deal when breakfast is already included. The Furo/Onsen (reservation) was especially nice and we took advantage of it our entire 3 nights stay. ย ย ย Read moreThis place can best be described as an upscale hostel: The rooms are clean but unfurnished, it's run by 2 people, only a shared bathroom is available (that you also have to reserve a 30-50min timeslot for), there is no view whatsoever and the nearest restaurant or convenience store is not within walking distance.
