This tea house was an unexpected find on our way to the ryokan. There are no menus or English instructions, but the lady working there was able to guide us through this amazing experience (we also used Google translate for the instruction sheet). There is only one item on the menu which is the tea experience with Japanese sweets. The tea is enjoyed five times starting with a very concentrated first sip that is only a teaspoon or so of liquid. This first drink is nothing like I’ve had before given the savouriness. The second and third drink with slightly hotter water was still a flavour profile that I didn’t recognize as green tea. It wasn’t until the four drink with 90c water that a more familiar flavour profile emerged.
