AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!

Beautiful hotel but completely neglected (see photos)! ⚠️

We wanted to treat ourselves to a pleasant night in a beautiful hotel in the city (it is the most expensive hotel we have paid for in our two months of travel) for our honeymoon and our stay was just DISASTEROUS from start to finish.

To start with, we were coldly greeted by the reception staff, who are very young and speak very little English, only telling us to pay directly for our room. We hear another customer complaining about a problem with the pool.

We then went to our room, which was quite pretty at first glance, until we looked a little closer: the cleaning was ABSOLUTELY NOT done, there were dead insects and dust near the furniture, all the objects and wooden furniture were damaged (see photos), there were marks on the walls, limescale marks and an abandoned toothbrush in the bathroom, the bathroom products are almost empty. I wanted to take the hotel slippers before realizing that they were dirty and used. A shame!

We then went to the swimming pool (which is the main attraction since it is located in the middle of all the rooms), which was not accessible due to maintenance apparently carried out the same morning (see photo). We go to complain to the reception desk (where we are only told that the water has turned green) and finally ask to speak to a manager.

We wait 40 minutes for a return, but no one comes to see us, the staff just watch us from afar. We return to the reception desk and the young people present seem lost, saying first that the manager is sick, then that he is finally not available. They refuse to let us speak to him even by phone. There follows a misunderstanding about what they are offering us in exchange: they offer to reimburse us for the night in full and give us the choice of staying or not at the hotel.

After going back to our room, they contact us by phone and we tell them to keep our room, not having the energy to look for another hotel.

When we go back through the reception to leave, they call out to us and finally tell us, very embarrassed, that if they reimburse us, we must nevertheless leave. We are furious with the management and let them know that we will sleep well on site as we had been offered.

The next morning, we were more than disappointed with the breakfast, which is one of the worst of all the hotels we have ever stayed in in our entire life. There is very little choice, everything is in tiny portions and there is nothing local. We don't even understand how all the customers can be fed. Again, the staff in charge are very young.

We finally think, in view of the other comments in particular, that no one really manages this hotel where the minimum is done to continue to welcome customers.

We have slept in small country guesthouses much better than this expensive hotel (while we were in low season)! Choose another place if you want to have...

I recently stayed at the Green Park Boutique Hotel in Vientiane and had a mixed experience. The hotel has many commendable aspects but also areas that could benefit from improvement.

The room decor was aesthetically pleasing, and the rooms were spacious, providing a comfortable stay. Additionally, the hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of shopping malls, making it convenient for guests to explore the area.

However, there were a few issues during my stay. The bedroom had an unpleasant smell, likely due to the wooden fixtures and the rainy season. Regular use of a dehumidifier could significantly improve this situation. There were also moderate clogs in the washbasin and mild clogs in the bathtub, which were inconvenient and should be addressed promptly.

The dining room service was inconsistent. The staff often forgot our requests, necessitating repeated reminders. On one occasion, we had to go to the counter to get what we needed. Additionally, there is no designated smoking area, so if you choose to sit outside, you will be in close proximity to smokers. Inside, there are only two tables for two people, forcing those who want to sit inside to occupy a table for at least four if those smaller tables are full.

Another concern was food safety. The dining area doors were frequently left open, attracting a noticeable amount of fruit flies to the food, which could pose health risks. The laundry prices are displayed in USD, but charges are made in LAK, which ends up being more expensive after conversion. Payment in USD is not accepted, even if you have USD in cash or cards. Rooms near the pool can be quite noisy due to children playing in the morning and evening. Additionally, the internet was intermittently slow and sometimes completely unusable.

While the Green Park Boutique Hotel has its charms, addressing these issues could significantly enhance the overall...

Positive point: the reception looks nice though that is not where I spend most of my time when staying somewhere staff is smilly though seems highly incompetent (I ordered once a vegetable fried rice to be brought to my room, and since it had not turned up 50mins later, I went to get it myself and the waitress admitted he had forgotten to send my order to the kitchen, but didn’t miss to charge me service charge though I ended up bringing my plate to my room myself. Anyway not the hospitality I am used to being French.

Negative points: breakfast: the self service area is often empty and you have to remind them all the time to add some fruits, some bread, some juice… You can also order from the menu, which is nice, but only if you don’t have to remind them where is my order (been waiting for 20mins), wrong order often get sent to your table, item on the menu cannot be ordered because they are missing ingredients such as bananas! Yes bananas, though you can find them at every street corner, during our 6 days stay we had 3 days with no bananas.

dinner: there is a menu but often you cannot order it because they don’t have the ingredients in the kitchen.

cleanless of the room: the room was very very dirty when we got it and though we mentioned it to them and they came to clean it again, it was not appropriately clean and I will never stay there again. See picture of me wiping the floor with the tissue and the outcome of it.

It is very important for the manager/owner of this hotel to be aware of this and do something about it because the hotel looks nice on paper, but made us feel like we wasted money and in the end didn’t have the pleasant stay we were meant...

EXCEPTIONAL! This whole place is simply amazing! Each one of the staff members were extremely kind and helpful. They organized for us so many things - from transfers all over the city to train tickets to Vang Vieng so quickly and smoothly, zero stress and waiting time. The rooms are spacious and classy, so comfortable and clean, all with nice terrace with exquisite view to the pool and a beautiful pond with water lillies, the whole garden so green and comforting. The food and the drinks - exceptional! Everybody, from managers to receptionists, helping staff, drivers, kitchen and cleaning staff, all ready to help even without asking. An assistant was waiting ready to help us with our baggage in front of the door so early in the morning at check out exactly for our transfer time without us calling for that. The pool has 2 sections - one can be used both for kids and for relaxation for adults, it's small and shallow and the other part is really comfortable for swimming for all - it's getting gradually deep up to 2m probably. And the two sections are naturally connected, we had great time with my 4-year old son in both thus! And staff handed a special ball for the pool to my son at check in yet to ensure his good time playing in the pool beforehand. They even organized a surprise for us - a special cake with personal message with long well wishes card for our family member's birthday which they noticed themselves. All just heart-melting, can not thank you enough, you brought me to tears! This is a 7-star service for me! Can't wait to see you again!
