Livonija — Hotel in Sigulda

I stayed for a weekend in July in a single hotel room for an incredibly low price given the size of the room and the amenities (e.g. hair dryer, large table, access to a fridge just outside the room). The mattress was firm as I like it and the place was very quiet, perfect for great sleep at night. It is worth re-emphasizing a highlight of older reviews: the garden is still wonderful, I had diner there the two nights. I have to mention that breakfast is no longer offered, in this post-COVID era. This is not a big downside, as there are a few good places for breakfast on the other side of the train station, a 10 min. walk. October of 2017 my husband and I came to Sigulda for a brief overnight visit with friends. We needed a place for a basic stay and found Livonijia Hotel just up the road from our friend's place. The hotel perfectly met our needs. The grounds, building and our room were meticulously clean and well kept. The building is inviting and the grounds manicured and attractive. The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the two duvets. For an additional charge the hotel offers a breakfast which we did not need. We had good wifi and a gracious host. My only heads-up is be aware that there are rather steep stairs to the floors where the guest rooms are. A really lovely hotel - the owners were helpful, generally accommodating and the rooms were comfortable. Good, fast WiFi, and the gardens were fantastic in their summer colours. A lovely hotel.||||I've given a slightly lower '4 star' review due to the breakfast; while the food itself was lovely, the owners only have three tables to sit people. This means that there's no set time, and every day requires a slight negotiation with the owners to set times, based on when others have requested breakfast. We decided against breakfast one day as they couldn't do our time; it removes a bit of the freedom of the hotel (at least if there's set times, you know when booking!).
