During our 2-nights-stay at the B street hotel, we shared our room 106 (Superior room) with bed bugs. After the first wave of bites on the first night, we thought they were mosquito bites. Late on the second evening, we found residues of the parasites in bed after further bites and confronted the hotel, where they claimed that the problem had never occurred before and they gave us a new room in a lower category than we had booked, which we had to accept because it was too late to change hotels. After research, the problem was reported to the hotel by customers in October 2024 (and multiple times during the last years, see reviews here), but nothing was done, which is why I now have around 50 bites all over my body, including an allergic reaction.

The behavior of the staff is irresponsible, we could not sleep a night because of the parasites, could not enjoy our vacation in Penang, had to cancel day trips because of a hotel change and are now struggling with health reactions and have to have all of our luggage cleaned to avoid spreading. We requested that the entire booking should be refunded, but they refused to even refund one night. No apologie, no refund, they didn't even refund us the difference between the expensive room we booked and the cheaper one we had to move to. They are not taking this issue seriously, as the guy on the reception was laughing, not offering any helpful solution, and didn't let us talk to the manager. Furthermore, the guy at the reception claimed that the mattress would be disposed of and the room professionally cleaned, which is a lie. The hotel is fully booked and we saw the cleaning staff cleaning room 106 as they do every day. No replacement of the matress whatsoever. Worst...

The hotel was very strategically located, surrounded by many cafes, and popular attractions not far away in georgetown. However, public parking is very limited as the hotel only has one parking in the front by first come first serve basis. We had to park quite far away and walked a distance to the hotel. During check in, we were assigned to one of the room on the top floor. To our surprise, the room was a stand alone and beside the room was the housekeeping area, which was very noisy during the daytime as we tried to rest in the room, cause by the yelling and sounds made by the staffs. Bad soundproof and the room was quite small after putting a king size bed in it. At night there were sound of pipe ringing which has greatly disturbed our stay here, I believe its connected to the water flow in the hotel. In the room, dusts were everywhere and we believed it has been vacant for some time without much care, the curtain was dirty and stained, however very luckily the bed was clean at the very least but hard at the same time, making it even harder for us to sleep. The toilet was even worse, the floor was made of sandy rock and pebble material, which is feeling unpleasant to the feet and there are always dirt stick to our feet when we came out of the toilet, and the wall of the toilet is full of stains and dirt, which made us to believe that it was not properly cleaned prior to our stay. Overall it was a very unpleasant stay, probably because we were given a room that is maybe vacant for some time (as we realise the elevator to the top floor was off limits), not sure about other rooms. Also to note that every morning there will be prayers as wake up calls to those stays...

1. Gate key kept failing whenever I returned back to hotel, and staff had to change setting/card multiple times during my 5 nights stay. 2. Experienced power trip at least 4-5times. 3. All the reviews about soundproofing cannot be trusted in whole. Soundproofing of corridor is better than average but not the best. But for those who wants to get a room with window / city view, think again. These rooms are facing the roadside and when night falls, there will be endless noises. There are nearby pubs with crazy groups shouting and singing sometimes, and also consistent and unknown knocking & popping noises throughout the night that are clearly audible because windows are not soundproof. Once 5am hits, audible prayer starts too that's louder than my alarm clock. These are evidential from the recordings even with windows shut. I never get to enjoy any moment of silence during my first few nights stay here, although it was better for the last 2 nights when it has been raining all day that ceases night activities. I was severely sleep-deprived! Nonetheless, what is worth commending are the accomodating receptionists.

Guests coming here should definitely avoid choosing rooms with windows; you can hear the sounds of cars, motorcycles, and even people talking from outside. The worst part is that every night around 3 AM, a group gathers outside the hotel making a racket. The hotel staff say they're members of a club, but it’s just too disruptive. I intended to stay here for three nights, but two nights in a row have been like this. There's only one parking spot outside the hotel, and it’s first come, first served. I parked my car in front of the hotel worried it might get messed up by those night-owl troublemakers. I can only say that parking, soundproofing, and those club members (who I’ll just call the "crazy night owls") can really ruin a great trip. Not wanting to have bad memories during Christmas, I chose to move to another hotel for my last night. I don’t know if the rooms without windows have any soundproofing issues, so everyone should think carefully about what they want.
