Central Fire and Rescue Station — Local services in George Town

One of the many interesting colonial buildings you can see with the UNESCO World Heritage area of George Town is the Beach Street Fire Station, also referred to as Central Fire Station, along Lebuh Chulia.

The building was constructed in 1908 and reflects Edwardian style architecture with Mughal touches which you can spot in the design of the station tower. The fire station remains active o not likely you can visit the inside. However, you can have a quick look at the outside of this historic fire station when sightseeing along Lebuh Chulia.

Dropped by the fire station while on a walk tour of beach street area. The on-duty firemen were nice and friendly. They entertained my daughter, other kids and adults that were there, letting them inside the firetruck and rescue boat, giving them to try out the SCBA mask and oxygen cylinder.
