Vintage House — Hotel in George Town

George Town with its 'World Heritage' tag, boasts some of the very best heritage houses, which have been converted to 'Boutique stay' with personal touch from its proud owners, who have inherited these properties from their family over past few generations. The legacy has continued, so does these 'heritage houses' standing strong with a stamp of its glorious past. ||One such heritage property is, 'Vintage House' - owned & managed by Ms. Cheah. Location of this property is undoubtedly the best, in the heart of George Town, with walking distance to most of the famous streets. Though, the exteriors of this house is dated and if you find it difficult to locate the property, Ms. Cheah is there to guide you properly well in advance. ||Once you climb up to first floor of Vintage house through its old wooden staircase, what awaits is, nearly a century old yet extremely well maintained mansion - thanks to all the personal attention from Ms. Cheah. She personally looks into every detail at Vintage House to ensure that, her guests have a very comfortable stay. ||The property doesn't serve any meals, but then when you are in George Town, it's a food paradise and you are bound to get spoiled for choices, with most of the good eateries & street-food joints are situated within few hundred meters. However, the property does provide self-serviced tea & coffee through out the day, in the lobby area. ||The unique feature of Vintage House is, its 'services'. The personal attention provided by Ms. Cheah is simply amazing and she is a wonderful host, always ready to help with a smile. She is a very kind and warm-hearted person and her simple approach to business is "to ensure a pleasant experience for all the guests visiting her place". Cheah is the most wonderful host you can wish for. Cheah will send you many locations to eat delicious food via WhatsApp, extremely happy to help you with any questions you have; and if she is not around, you can WhatsApp her.||The accommodation is discreetly placed on the corner of Victoria street so just ask around if you have trouble finding it. Once inside you will see it was worth staying here. It is very well maintained with beautiful décor. We were traveling as a couple so were happy with the private bathroom but If you are traveling as a pair and prefer privacy from each other in regards to going to the bathroom then I would highly recommend getting the rooms with a shared bathroom.||We'd originally booked for two nights and within an hour of being there booked for another two; we had two nights in the private bathroom and two nights in the shared bathroom as the private was booked for the remainder.||Location wise is was very good also, we didn't use any taxi's or public transport. Walking distance to little India on chulia street and to all of Cheah's recommendations.||When we return to Penang we will definitely be coming back to...

This guesthouse is probably the best we have ever stayed in - and we've stayed in a lot. I absolutely love it, it is well set up, the rooms are beautiful, airy, high ceilings, spacious with air-conditioning and a fan. The bathrooms are simple, very clean, plenty of space and extra sinks. There is communal areas, tea and coffee provided with a hot water machine and a fridge. There are books to browse. Cheah runs this guesthouse, she is so welcoming and friendly, she will not only make you feel very welcome but she has guided us round this whole area with places to go, things to see, food to try, free buses to catch - ideas and suggestions sent via WhatsApp links. We have used her suggestions to eat out, take buses, go out to places - we have had the best time here and at the end of every day, we have had a lovely guesthouse to come back to. We hope to come again to stay and spend more time.
