Our stay at the newly refurbished Iconic Marjorie Marriott Bonvoy has been nothing short of amazing. 🌟 The hotel is extremely new, having undergone refurbishment just two months ago.
We stayed here for a week, and every moment was a delight. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always greeting us with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to provide the best experience. I wanted to name a few exceptional staff members, but honestly, there were too many! From the breakfast dining experience to the poolside, housekeeping, and checkout, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. 🥰
🏬 Hotel Design & Amenities I truly enjoyed my stay here because of the thoughtfully designed interiors and amenities. The hotel takes great pride in its Penang Peranakan heritage, which is evident in everything from the staff uniforms to the decor.
🥞 A special mention goes to the breakfast buffet—one of the best I’ve had in Malaysia! The variety was impressive, featuring a hydroponic salad bar, a cheese platter, an omelette station, a noodle station, and multiple fresh juice stations.
The highlight? Their live cooking station, where I indulged in chapati, scrambled eggs, and the iconic Penang Char Kway Teow, cooked with incredible wok-hei. I ate it so often that I think the chef recognized me, and we greeted each other every morning! 😂 I would like to say it's nicer than some of the hawkers we tried too 🌝
👙The level 13 poolside features a long infinity pool—perfect for laps—with a jacuzzi offering stunning views of Penang.
The steam rooms and shower facilities in the gendered bathrooms were a great touch. Right next to the pool, the bar had an attractive cocktail menu, ambient music, and a beautiful herb garden where guests can see and touch local Penang spices.
💪🏻 The 24-hour gym was impressively well-equipped, with ice-cold water and fresh towels available. The brand-new facilities were another highlight of my stay.
🛏️ Our Room Our king-sized bed came with four pillows, and there was even a pillow menu to customize our sleeping experience. The laundry service was quick, returning our clothes within a day when submitted by 11 AM.
The room decor had a modern Peranakan vibe, blending tradition with contemporary elegance. The bathroom amenities included shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap, all with tropical floral and fruity scents. The hairdryer was stylish and powerful, while the toothbrush and vanity kits were made from eco-friendly materials, designed for multiple uses.
The only downside was the soundproofing in the room, which we believe will be resolved once the final refurbishment touches are completed. Overall, I truly hope this hotel thrives. With time, I believe more guests will fall in love with it just as much as we did. It’s now an iconic spot for us in Penang, and we can’t wait to...

31-Dec-2024 night, we visited Iconic Marjorie hotel in Penang, looking forward to a delightful dinner and to welcome 2025 at this newly open hotel! Despite paying a RM300 deposit a week in advance for table reservations , our experience was far from pleasant. We ordered a simple starter of french fries at 9 PM (and planned to order pizza one hour late). We waited over an hour and no sign of French fries at all is being served. We started to check with the staffs, minimum 5-6 waiters, the staff simply told us it was being prepared and gave very “creative” answer. One of it mentioned the kitchen has been closed at 10pm and our food is served later because we arrived “earlier” than others. They might not able to manage to find any food availability in the kitchen but they will try their best! OMG! What’s the logic of this? I thought we have ordered earlier and we arrived earlier compare to others. And ya, we are not allowed to order the pizza too since the kitchen is closed without advance inform to the customers. Another one kept giving promises and commitment saying the food will come super soon, but yea, all are just empty promise! Another one mentioned that the area is not under his authority(not served by him) so he does not know. Finally, after waiting another hour at 11pm++, we were given a small plate of fries which is

Staff throughout the hotel were hospitable, from the staff at reception, to the staff at breakfast, to the housekeeping staff and even the security guards. Every interaction was greeted with a smile and sometimes, it's the little things that make a difference.
The interior design of the hotel was sleek, unique and has a touch of Penang heritage, be it in the common areas or the room.
Ample space in the room and bathroom with an amazing view of Penang City (stayed on the 21st floor). The bed and pillow were also comfortable (with an exclusive pillow menu that included uncommon offerings such as buckwheat pillow, chrysanthemum pillow, lavender pillow; which were advertised with their own unique benefits).
Facilities were also great; nice infinity pool overlooking the cityscape with a bar and a huge fitness center with a variety of equipment that is more than sufficient for any workout. There was also a steam room which was yet again another unique touch.
Breakfast at the Tiffin Hall was exceptional; huge variety (western, asian as well as local Penang fares) and while not everything tasted the best, there were more hits than misses. I personally enjoyed the Prawn Mee and Char Kuey Teow (cooked to order) alot. Nasi Lemak was a bit of a miss.
There was also a nice lounge to have tea and pastries at the ground floor. On Saturdays (at least for now), there is also a guest violinist which added to the overall experience.
All in all, I enjoyed the stay thoroughly and would highly recommended the Iconic Marjorie to anyone! One of the best hotels in this...
