This is the worst hotel service I have ever experienced. If I could give negative stars, I would rate this hotel -5 stars. I strongly advise against staying here unless you can tolerate the rude and disrespectful attitude of the front desk staff.
I found this hotel on Agoda and decided to book it because, despite traveling to many places, I had never experienced a capsule hotel. I planned to stay on June 29th and check out the next day to continue my trip.
On June 29th, I arrived at M Cube Hotel around 9 PM. Upon arrival, I discovered that the hotel was on the second floor of a shop lot. My partner and I went up to the second floor. As soon as we entered the hotel area, the front desk staff (an older man) loudly reprimanded us, saying we couldn't wear shoes inside and had to leave them outside the door. I was confused because I’ve only heard of removing shoes when entering someone's home, not a hotel. I explained that we were from out of town and it was our first time there, so we didn’t know about this rule. Moreover, we didn’t see any signs indicating this requirement. The front desk man insisted there was a sign outside and that it was our fault for not noticing it, demanding we go back out immediately to take off our shoes before entering. Admittedly, we missed the sign, so we complied.
Once inside, the man told us he was busy (he was checking in a lady at the time) and that we needed to sit and wait if we could, otherwise we should leave immediately. I was baffled. Why ask guests to remove their shoes without providing indoor slippers right away? Instead, we were left barefoot, waiting!
Later, I saw a girl walk in from outside without taking off her shoes and move around freely inside. I questioned the man about why she didn’t have to remove her shoes. His response was that she was an employee. If the hotel is so particular about cleanliness, shouldn’t the same rule apply to everyone? Furthermore, if the hotel requires guests to wear assigned slippers inside, shouldn’t they be ready for guests to wear immediately after removing their shoes?
When the man finally finished, I told him, politely, that his earlier tone was rude and could easily offend guests. He dismissively replied, “If you don’t like it, you don’t have to stay here. I’m not forcing you to stay.” What kind of attitude is this? How can he speak like this to a fully paid customer? I reminded him that I had already paid. He nonchalantly responded that he could refund the entire amount and asked where I booked the room. He offered to give me the platform’s customer service number to cancel my booking and get a full refund. He even gave me Agoda’s customer service number right away. The whole process was incredibly uncomfortable. I’ve never encountered such an arrogant and rude employee.
I originally came to Penang to celebrate my birthday, but because of this unpleasant incident, I had to leave M Cube Hotel and find another place to stay that night. This unpleasant experience once more...
Read moreThis is a capsule hotel. This place is well managed and run. The place is clean and the beds / capsule is clean and comfortable. There is a locker for every cubicle and it can fit small to mid sized luggages. The controls in the capsule is easily accessible for the lights etc, air circulation in the capsule is decent/good as is the place generally. There is a small safe for your valuables within the cubicle. The place is kept clean by every guest having to wear the provided slippers within the capsule room, shoes etc are placed in the locker and changed when you leave/comes back to the place. WiFi is good and stable, there is a hall with sofas/bean bag seats in case you want to find a sofa and the 'lobby' check in counter is there at the 2nd level. The staff are friendly and professional, briefs each guest well on arrival as staying here is quite different from a regular hotel. During my visit, the weather is hot outside, but in the room with all the capsules the air conditioning is cool and comfortable. This place is also within walking distance from Sungei Nibong express bus terminal (about 300m), there is a coin operated laundry shop that is quite a walk about 450m along the same road, just opposite the road about 300m away there is a 7 eleven conveniece shop just in case you arrived late at night. There are city buses (Rapid Penang route 401) that is at the main road near Sungei Nibong bus terminal that goes to/from city e.g. Komtar/Jetty. Calling Grab using app is convenient from/to this location. That said this is a capsule hotel and it requires quite a bit of adjustments from routine e.g. that your luggage may be in the locker away from your...

Secondly , after knowing that we are first timer he show us the room and when we wanted to climb up to the capsule to have a tried his rude behavior came again .He didn't let us to try the capsule because it is very TIRED for him to ask for maid to clean the capsule again if we didn't wanted the room. Thirdly when we are asking something he didn't get what we meant and went we asked twice he answer it without patient .Thirdly , there's no sign that we need to pay deposit to stay at there and he asked deposit from us and we asked why he said that it is the rules and it normal to ask for it even there's not written in the TERMS AND CONDITION. Last but not lastly, the room was tidy but the mattress those are dirty u can see many dark spots and the water dispenser had insects crawling around . All i can say is the maid behaved more well than the owner that's a middle chinese man with almost bald head . The one who's lucky will not meet the owner there but if u r unlucky u will meet a UNBEHAVED...
