[High-Tech Motorcycle Theft Right at My Doorstep — Serious Security Flaws in Emerald 9's Access System]
On the night of May 2nd, my motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot of Emerald 9 Condominium. The thieves didn’t use any access card, password, or provide identification. Instead, they seemingly used some kind of contactless technology to bypass the gate system and entered the premises with ease, walking off with my entire bike.
It was a grey-blue 2024 YAMAHA 135LC, which I bought just a year ago, and it’s worth close to RM10,000. At around 9:40 PM, two young men wearing baseball caps approached the gate sensor. They stood there for just 10 seconds before the gate opened automatically. Without hesitation, they walked in naturally and wheeled the bike away. The entire act was clearly captured on CCTV.
After the incident, we approached the management to request the CCTV footage. They only gave us a short clip and told us to handle the police report ourselves. They offered no further help or investigation. What’s even more disappointing is that, after clearly viewing the footage.
This isn’t my first unpleasant experience at this condo. In the past, food deliveries and parcels have been stolen. Whenever we lodged complaints, the management would just respond, “That’s not within our responsibility.” And now, even with an entire motorcycle being stolen, they still refuse to take any real action.
What’s worse, it was only after this incident that the management told me another motorcycle had also been stolen just the week before. Yet, they never informed the residents, nor did they implement any preventive measures.
Living in a gated and guarded condominium is supposed to provide a sense of security. But now, with the gate system so easily compromised, a management team that shifts blame, and a police force that refuses to investigate, one can’t help but ask — who can we still trust?
I’m not sharing this post just to recover my bike. I want everyone to be aware of the serious security loopholes in the Emerald 9 access system. I hope this incident gets the attention it deserves from the management, developer, and authorities — and serves as a wake-up call for current and prospective residents to...
Read moreThis condominium has 5 towers – with 2 currently in building. Each tower has its lobby and elevator access, separate from the other Tower. You do nit need to be worried about elevator traffic.
It is a beautiful condo residence with premium common and private facilities. I am not joking. The facilities are grand, international scale and what I wish most Malaysian condos would look. They are better than the house.
The house has 3 sizes – if I am not mistaken. The house starts from 850* sft. It is not big, but good for single or a couple. Threesome too. There are 2 rooms and 2 restrooms.
The house may face 2 views – the main highway of Cheras-Kajang with a view of MRT or the old Batu 9 areas with a background of Langat hills.
I read that the house facing the highway can be noisy. It is probably true if you stay in a lower floor. However, as long as the windows are shut, it does not seem to affect someone’s sleep. This is based on my experiment while I was at the 15th+ floor.
I read about the theft case in the parking lot but this area is secured with access card and is limited to a specific Tower residents. I am not sure whether the case is ongoing. From the surface, the building looks safe and private.
The condo allows dog breeds specified under the DBKL by-laws. These are very mini toydogs like baby poodles and such. This sucks, tbh. Hard to rescue and adopt a stray this way. Blame Malaysia for that.
There is a long bridge that connects you to You Vista mall (it is a mini mall but has a grocery store called TMC) and the Batu 9 MRT. This building is surrounded by the other Tower and You condominium. There is a main street with traffic lights opposite this condo.
You can see cute plumped stray dogs roaming around here. Do not disturb them if you don’t know them. They seem to be well-fed and myob.
In the future, Guocoland will invite vendors to buy/rent spaces in one of the Towers for commercial purposes.
This condo was developed by Guocoland, a company belong to Hong...
Read moreThe policy regarding move-in and delivery is ridiculous. While I understand the need to protect the building from damages and the imposition of a RM550 deposit, it becomes frustrating when this amount is required even for small delivery items just because the delivery people use a lorry. I would comprehend if it applied to large items prone to causing damage, but for a 45cm drawer costing less than the deposit, the management's stance is absurd. They should review and clarify their deposit policy, considering the size and quantity of items. It's ironic that contractors are allowed to conduct carpentry in the hallway, yet the management is overly strict about deposits. They need to implement a more reasonable and fair deposit policy. For instance, if a courier uses a small box lorry and is known company, they should be allowed to park in the visitors' parking(ex. SHOPEE / LAZADA) area without a deposit and they will only consider as delivery. However, if the vehicle belongs to an unknown shop, the deposit should apply, and they should use the loading bay. It's illogical that the same-sized vehicle would be treated differently based on the sender. Ultimately, it's a delivery, and one can't predict whether a courier will use a lorry or not. The deposit policy needs to be more equitable...
