Super OYO Capital O 804 Hotel Pinji — Hotel in Perak

I stayed 2 nights here with my family, bearing in mind that we just needed a place to shower and rest at night considering we would be out most of the time. We looked for a budget friendly stay.

Pros:

1. Quiet but strategic location (quick drive in between Ipoh town and Tambun)
2. Free parking with lots of space (although the basement parking is not very well lit at times)
3. Friendly and helpful receptionist
4. Budget friendly
5. Massage parlour at the ground floor, perfect for a foot massage after a long day out (open till 11pm)
6. Gym on the 1st floor is well equipped (discounted price of RM10 per entry for hotel guests)
7. Water dispenser on the 2nd floor
8. Big common space available for group activities/family gathering with some rooms conveniently grouped together on the 3rd floor
9. Nice view of far away mountains from the 3rd floor rooms

Cons:

1. Water stains on the ceiling and peeling paint inside some rooms may not be pretty but the rooms/bathrooms looked clean and for the price, I didn't mind since I got a good night's sleep anyway (mattress seems new)
2. Make sure to bring your own additional toiletries as only body wash and towels are provided (iron/board are available in the shared space, hair dryer can be requested from the receptionist)
3. Bedsheets and towels are a bit old with some discolouration but they smell nice and clean
4. Random maintenance people loiter/take naps on the big couch in the group common space during my stay and even other hotel guests may find the big couch/space a good place to have a smoke when there's no one around so there may be some awkward encounters there
5. Security can be improved (card access to rooms worked well but there's no extra security door latch on the inside)

Overall, we enjoyed our trip in Ipoh and the hotel stay is alright...

quite cheap, but no standard at all, everything was such old and dirty, all the blanket, pillow, bed and towel was stained and looked very dirty, don't know got change or not, floor & mat also oily, dusty and all the sands, obviously the mat didn't change before, the water heater worked, but will always turned cool suddenly, WiFi was totally didn't work, aircon also got kind of smell, bed mattress old and saggy, wallpapers broke and torn, luckily just over 1 night, but still can saw lot of cockroaches crawling here and there, about 7-8 I saw over a night, customer service also slow, hair dryer also limited, we stayed 2 rooms, but waited so long only send us 1, basin paip also broke, washing on top, wet you whole below, then they was like controlling the water level behind, at first the toilet bowls can't flush properly because the water too small, can't restore back at all in tangki after 1 time flush, after we feedback to the customer service only they came and showed us it was work properly, then we found out the water level really become bigger after that, besides, I was booking online in early and the price was 166.50, but they asking for round up when we make the payment and it's became that we need to pay extra 50 cents, actually 50 cents it's ok to me, just why don't they make the pricing in clear instead of cheating in this way? really...

WiFi not working at all the rooms, only in lobby downstairs! ❌ Have window ✅ with nice view. Towels and bed okay just duvet could be bit better especially not that strait. Shower okay. Must be careful with doors, because they are too fast and do noise, also afraid they could get broken... Location is only about 2 km from the city centre but the area around already seems like you're at village far far away... For someone could be good for someone not. You can find some food if you'll go out from the hotel and then turn left and again left on that street, it's around some local market. I could put maybe 3 stars but I won't because of that what happened to me during the check-in - they want to take from you an additional RM 20 just because they says it's too cheap! You can't do that! And this is not customer's fight... (They blame Agoda atc...). After maybe 2 hours of fighting they finally let me take the room without that stupid RM 20 making me so tired...
