Beach was fantastic but the stay was my worst nightmare ever. I strongly suggests family especially with kids/senior citizen to AVOID staying here.
Below are my honest feedbacks with details.
Room Condition checked in to the room and the shower cap spoilt & rusty. only 3 holes out of maybe 25 holes were dripping water. Went to the reception to asked for a room change, they gave us next door. While moving over, my husband realises the aircond were blowing hot air -.-"
Went to complain at the reception and they replied they are out of rooms. Then we asked if it's possible for us to top up to the chalet or bigger room, the boss MR LIM replied (while sitting & vaping) those rooms are even older...actually the rooms you guys gotten are recently serviced. we will fix your room but have to wait because its my guys rest time now -.-" So, we left with no choice but to wait for their service team to get the room fixed.
Bed sheets with stains & blanket stinks. Kettle & hair dryer are upon request and usually run out. Baby cockroaches came to visit at night too.
Food & Dine Area it is located on first floor and has to climb about 15-20steps up . not friendly for senior citizen for sure.
First lunch was disaster. Nothing child friendly. All spicy. Then onwards, it was better at least there are dishes that are not spicy. tastes okay but it looks like economy rice. 3-4dishes each time only.
2nd morning breakfast starts at 7am and the fried rice finishes by 8.10am and they do not top up -.-""""" sweat. so it's like first come first serve... if you are late....too bad.
The dine area is like an army canteen. sigh...
Swimming Pool Not maintained. Water were dirty, stinks and sick.
Service They told us to check out by 9.30am because buggy will be ready to send us to jetty around 10.15am. As the buggy arrives, tonnes of people went up the buggy and the receptionist told us that actually they made a mistake, our buggy are coming around 11am-11.15am. so we waited.
After arriving redang jetty, not long later, the speedboat arrives and we went up. The speedboat picks up & drop off other guests in different island. It was an immediate deal because I saw them handing money to the helmsman right away after 2minutes of negotiation. then we gotta squeeze again. kids have to be seated on our laps -.-" the life jackets states BOBBY BOAT.. it could be the boat company name.
Then they drop us at a different jetty at Merang which is not the one we parked our car. Then we asked can you send us all (6 adults, 1 senior citizen, 4 kids and 1 toddler) by boat to the jetty we parked our car.
They replied... Kenapa tak cakap awal???? I told him, it's my first time and we do not know there are different jetties. He said, kapal saya tak pergi sana. Kalau nak, saya ambil motor hantar seorang pergi ambil kereta... -.-" He also mentioned that it was the receptionist at Redang Bay Resort who does the coordination.
While my husband walked to the carpark (yes he walked because we had an argument with the guy then he refused to send us by bike), we called Redang Bay to the owner (Mr Lim) to complain...he push the ball around and we insisted that it was his team's failure in coordinating... then he replied, SO WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?...
It was an unpleasant stay overall but the beach was great. so, just plan early and book better resort ie; Redang Beach, Laguna or if budget allows...
Read moreRedang Bay Resort provided me with a TERRIBLE accommodation experience – my MONEY WAS STOLEN from my ROOM!! It seriously affected my travel mood!
I had to change rooms three times on the first day of my stay, and the second room change was rushed because we had to gather for a boat trip at 2 o'clock. We moved into the second room just a few minutes before 2, stored our belongings, locked the door, and left. The reasons for changing rooms were as follows: 1st room - Toilet blockage 2nd room - A thief entered and stole all my Malaysian Ringgit!! Only then did we move to a third room.
The facilities inside the rooms were old, dirty, and it was evident that they hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained. Basic safety measures were lacking, and even the door locks were problematic!
The most shocking part was that the room we were assigned had only a wooden door that could be locked; the glass windows and glass door could not be locked and could easily be pushed open! (We realized this only after thoroughly inspecting the room after the theft was discovered.)
Even the third room we were supposed to move to had the same issue of not being lockable. We had to personally inspect all the doors and windows to ensure they could be locked before moving in.
Staying here is extremely unsafe for women!!!
When our money was stolen from the room, we immediately sought assistance from the resort staff. However, since it was late at night, the senior staff had already left, and we had to rely on the person who booked the resort for us to contact their staff, who eventually got in touch with us to inquire about the situation.
The next day, less than 24 hours after the incident, their explanation was as follows:
Why didn't you report the incident immediately last night? So, who was I talking to last night in resort uniforms? The CCTV only has recordings from September 22nd, not September 21st. Are they saying the CCTV cannot access footage from 20 hours ago? So, what's the point of having CCTV?! After the incident, not a single responsible person from the resort came forward to help us. Instead, we had to keep searching for someone, and even other guests helped us find a responsible person! Finally, when we found the owner, we thought we would get assistance, but all he said was, "You should report it to the police!"
So, I tried to report it to the police, but it turned out that the police responsible for Redang Island were on another island, unable to assist me. They told me to go to the police station in Kampung to file a report, and then they mentioned that since I'm not a local, I would have to cooperate with the investigation and be available at any time. They estimated that the case would take about a year to resolve, meaning I would incur even more losses. I ultimately chose not to report the incident...
In summary, Redang Bay Resort provided me with an unsafe room, initially tried to shift the blame onto me when the incident occurred, and then seemed to think that a few words from their seats would resolve the issue. I didn't even hear a simple apology from them!! This is their approach to handling situations!!
I never come back to this...
Read moreThe place is clean. Well kept. I just wonder why they make every group of guest to fill up a form during arrival. We have booked and details were provided before hand. We have no complains for the rooms. Place is kept tidy. No litter. Our arrival lunch, dinner and the next morning breakfast was ok. Nothing to shout about.||There is no boiling/hot water available. U need to pay a deposit in order to get a plastic kettle...which they refund u during check out.||Snorkeling trip in the first afternoon was not satisfying as there were too many people at the snorkeling spot. ||We were thoroughly briefed before the snorkeling session at the gathering area during our visit to Redang some years ago but this was not the case anymore.||Boarding the boat to the snorkeling spot was a bit of a problem. We were all in life jackets and the wave was strong in the afternoon. People who weren't tall enough, easily gets floated up and were drifting...before they could board the boat. It's a little scary for those who don't know how to swim.||Moreover, some guests jump queue. People...be civilized...aren't u on a holiday? The boat is not going to speed off until everyone is on board...so what's the hurry?||Our 2nd snorkeling trip was more satisfying as we were brought to the Marine Park. However that said, there were too many people around. There were more rubbish being left behind by visitors this time round compared to our last visit.||The only dissatisfying ordeal i had in this resort was the Sunday night dinner. We were provided a steam boat buffet for dinner. They only provide clear soup for the steam boat. There will be an additional RM10 for a Tomyam paste being added. I think that's not very sincere from the resort. There are other types of seafood available...such as shrimp, clams, crabs...of course we have to pay...and it's way too expensive. The worst is...the additional seafood weren't fresh. The shrimp...for instance, has turned black...for pete's sake u on an island. There's a fishing village on the side of the island and u can't get fresh seafood....? The helpers were also slow in replenishing the food. We end up hurried our dinner and walked to the another resort to have a better dinner.||Apart for the dinner, everything was fine. Redang is still very much...
