An insightful experience.
The food is truly amazing, the most simplest of cooking brought to perfection.
Coming into the restaurant, I believe many would question themselves after looking at the higher than average prices. But if people can pay substantial amount for raw fish, that is sliced and placed on a roll of rice, then to the ones that have tasted the food prepared by the humble yet charismatic chef of Redang Moon, it is easy to find justification.
The simple yet elegantly grilled seafood retained all the sweetness that it has. Served with Soy sauce mixed with chilli grown onsite, with a plate of white rice playfully presented in the shape of a heart, the flavour was to die for.
My friends and I ordered a grilled Red Snapper and a larger than average squid, with chicken satay (chicken is so mainland). The dinner was filling, the atmosphere over looking the beach from the hill was beautiful, the moon was large and bright.
To those who have the means, I humbly urged for one to try the food here, then maybe one would understand how a dinner here is an island experience in...
Read moreStumbled across this very beautiful place when we were exploring what to eat, got attracted by the location of it as it was on top of the cliff, was bit sceptical with the food at first but nooooo, WE WERE BLOWN AWAY by it . Ok I’m not talking about fancy food with fancy plating but if you are down with local home cook and fresh seafood this is the place to be. We had homegrown okra, steamed but the okra is sweet and juicy I ain’t even kidding, the fish we had was grilled and you get to pair it with lemon and salt, the best way to eat any sorts of fresh seafood so please do try their other seafood as well because it’s SO FRESH! we devoured the whole fish and wanting more. AND THE SATAY! So tender and juicy and the sauce was good Okie. And the view, I don’t even need to mention, it’s the best view to have a yummy dinner.
Waiting time can be quite long as they cook everything from scratch then and there, but the view was enough to keep your mind off. We brought our toddler and he got to explore the whole place....
Read moreSituated on top of a small hillock, Redang moon is perhaps the only gourmet restaurant on this part of the island. Most of the other restaurants seem to be designed for mass tourism on the island including the ones inside the hotels.
Zuki the chef grew up on this island and learnt the art of grilling sea food from his grandparents and parents. Young Zuki would accompany his parents on the long slow boat ride to the mainland, which in those days lasted 4-5 my hrs. These trips were also an opportunity for him to learn about grilling sea food as it happened on the boat ride.
The second pillar of this amazing restaurant is the service. The lady who welcomes you and does the service had an exemplary eye to the detail. The cutlery you'll notice literally serves as a mirror. The presentation of every dish is also well thought.
I'm sure this restaurant deserves a Michelin star for its authentic grilled sea food and exceptional service and...
