I recently booked a place at the Morgan Boutique Hotel, described as a “Brand New Condo” — that turned out to be a construction zone NIGHTMARE!!! The building was totally under construction. The unit I booked was on the 4th floor, and the elevator has not been installed yet. I had over 100 lbs of camera equipment that I had to lug up 4 flights of stairs. I’m a professional videographer, so I travel with a decibel meter, and I was getting an average reading of over 100 decibels! a jet plane during take off is 120 decibels The units that were under construction had extremely loud hammering and banging, and power drills and power saws! — from sun up until sun down. The units on both sides (left & right) of the rental unit are under construction, as well as, the units above and below, and across the hall, and even behind the space. You literally have deafening construction noise coming from EVERY direction! (watch video clips) And if the noise wasn’t bad enough, the rest of the property was also a nightmare. As soon as you step outside the door, you are in a dark, dangerous hallway, with electrical wires hanging from the ceiling, buckets and boards on the floor, unfinished sections of railing (you could literally fall to your death if you’re not paying attention). And the rooftop pool shown in the property photos, is actually littered with construction equipment — hoses, cords, tools, as well as, having construction workers everywhere. The one time I went up to the rooftop pool, a large piece of concrete fell on the stairs right in front of me — it could have easily landed on my head if I had gone up 2 seconds earlier. The place was not safe! You go Cabo to get away and relax, not to suffer through mind-numbing construction noise, with views of piles of rubble and construction equipment. This was the worst case of Bait and Switch that I have...
Read moreHi. I’m sorry to say we were very disappointed on our visit to Morgan Residences. First of all, there is no actual street and the neighborhood does not feel really safe. This may not be MR’s fault of it’s own but it is something that is not mentioned on their information site and it’s quite inconvenient when you are trying to get there or park there. Be careful where you park… Second, smelly business. The room reeked of paint and sewer. We actually had to buy a lid for the shower. The smell was too much. Third, it’s as dusty as it gets. Since there is not a real street but actual sandy white adhesive dust, if you want to be outside or just have the window open you will get invaded by clouds of dust in no time. This is actually worse on the pool because of the works on a new tower of the same MR complex are done on work hours daily, just when it’s sunny an beautiful outside. Fourth, they do not keep up with what they agreed upon. I wanted a room with a washer, it was reserved that way and when I reached my smelly room there was no machine installed. They kindly offered washing it them selves on the laundry paying a fair or launder it somewhere else. Danna, the receptionist couldn’t specify where. She wasn’t able later on to tell us which of the water keys was hot or send someone to clean up the dust that was everywhere. The microwave doesn’t work and our apartment was the only one without mosquito net at the windows so we couldn’t open them.
I’d keep in mind going somewhere else when I get back to Cabo....
Read moreMorgan Residences is an eminently premium property in the making. ||The current construction is a drawback, so be sure to ask (or pay) for a room facing outside, rather than the courtyard. Similarly, the amazing experience of the rooftop pool with incredible views over the whole of Cabo is a little bit dimmed by the inevitable construction noise. ||What the property temporarily lacks due to growing pains (construction and road building), it fully makes up in a modern, airy design and a staff committed to making your stay enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable, air-conditioning is efficient, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need, from soup pots to blenders for your ice margaritas. ||Downtown is about 20 minutes away on foot, but a variety of local eateries and cervecerias are within a stone's throw. Major grocery chains are a 20-minute walk or a 90-100 peso cab ride away. Because it is off the beaten path, nighttime is quieter than in downtown with its clubs and tourists. ||I will not be surprised to see Morgan Residences charge in excess of 200 US dollars per night when the subdivision is fully serviced and the construction is done. I was glad to enjoy its class and location...
