I don’t usually write negative reviews, but my experience at Shark Ink was so disappointing that it deserves one. The food itself was fine — decent sushi, nothing special — but the service was another story entirely.
We started by ordering Topo Chico, and it somehow took nearly ten minutes for us to get any water at all. When the waiter finally came back, he brought Perrier instead — more than double the price — and deliberately opened it with his back to us so we couldn’t object. That felt manipulative right away.
Things got worse. My friend has a severe tuna allergy, which we made sure to mention clearly when ordering. The waiter thought it would be funny to turn to the chef and say, “extra tuna,” as a joke. It wasn’t funny — it was reckless and disrespectful.
When our food finally arrived, the waiter mistakenly set a seafood donburi—containing tuna—in front of my friend with the allergy instead of giving it to the person who had actually ordered the chicken donburi. Since my friend had ordered a surprise sushi dish, none of us immediately realized the mix-up until the plate was already in front of her. We caught it just in time and had to flag him down to correct the mistake, but the situation could have easily turned dangerous.
To top it off, when the check came, we were charged for the seafood bowl — about 100 pesos more than the chicken. When we asked about it, the waiter lied to our faces, saying they’d actually charged us the lower price as an apology. The receipt told a different story.
Between the dishonesty, the allergy joke, and the overall sketchy behavior, I left feeling completely betrayed. Cabo has plenty of great restaurants where customers are treated with respect — Shark Ink is absolutely not...
