We went to Cabo 3 months ago for our first time and stayed at the Garza Blanca (GB) and booked a 3 bedroom suite for $11,000. However, my partner is a foodie and we read the food at Grand Velas (GV) was the best at an all inclusive resort. I was hesitant because we could have gotten a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen at GB for $6500. The price for this at GV was almost double so we ended up booking one Ambassador Suite (2 queen beds) and it was $7700. Again, it was very difficult spending MORE for a basic room with 2 queen beds than we could have at GB for a 2 bedroom suite. I called GV and asked if they'd price match and they wouldn't. Our trip unfortunately was rocky from the start with Southwest canceling our flight and rescheduling us 2 days later. GV was great and rebooked our dates and didn't charge a price difference even though this change pushed us in to the weekend (which they charge more per night for). We appreciated that. It just so happens the day we flew in was a tropical storm and there were torrential rains upon our arrival. They had moved all furniture out of the lobby and they ushered us in to a boutique/wedding consult room to check us in along with other people in a tight space which we weren't thrilled about considering COVID (although everyone was wearing masks). Our arrival at Garza included hot wash rags scented with essential oils, champagne and a beautiful welcome. So, immediately this was a total different experience. Unfortunately, GV can't control the weather. I wish we had arrived on a normal day and could have experienced a regular check in experience so we could truly compare apples to apples. Our room was 8th floor but again, comparing to GB, it felt much older. The view was beautiful but I missed looking toward Cabo. Our butler was Scarlett and she was AMAZING. She took our phone numbers and texted us the entire trip. She was always available and took really great care of us. Night 1: Frida. It was our least favorite. During dinner they came and told us one of our bathroom sinks had fallen out of the marble while housekeeping was doing turndown service. They wanted to switch us to a different room but we had completely unpacked and didn't want to have to move. I asked if the adjoining suite was vacant (a king bed suite) and THANK GOD it was. I asked if they would give us that suite so we had a 2nd bathroom. Unfortunately they didn't comp it (I think they should have) but they gave us a huge discount. So we ended up with a two bedroom suite as I originally wanted lol Night 2: Dinner at Velas 10 (AMAZING). The pool bar was great (they didn't ask your room number which I also liked compared to Garza - at Garza you have to give your room number and sign for everything). The adult pool has the best view on the ocean, but we were okay with where we were at the upper pool. I snuck down to the adult pool a few times just to overlook the beach. The third day we met a couple at the pool and they told us their kids loved the Teens Club and they had video games, air hockey, pool, etc. One item we were really bummed about was finding out AFTER we booked that 2 of the restaurants were ADULT ONLY. We didn't think our 10 year old twin sons would be comfortable with us leaving them so we were really disappointed we wouldn't be able to experience these fine dining restaurants. BUT, we took our boys to the teens club and they immediately LOVED it. Night 3: Concina de Autor (tasting and pairing) is literally across from the teens club so our boys knew we were close. That was by far the best experience of the trip for us. We finally felt like we were on vacation. Night 4: Lucca (AMAZING). Night 5: Piaf (YAY! kids loved Teens Club) Synopsis: You can't compare the food at GV with GB. If you want amazing food - book GV. For value and the family experience, I'd rather get a fancy suite at GB and compromise the food (which is still amazing). GB felt contemporary and we honestly found ourselves referring back to our last trip that I would book...

This was our first international trip with our 6-month-old baby, so I had high expectations after doing extensive research. We stayed four nights with my husband and parents, booking two rooms in June 2025. The resort is stunning—spacious rooms, beautiful pools, and truly excellent dining.
The food and service at most restaurants exceeded expectations. Loto at the sister resort and Velas 10’s tomahawk steak are must-tries. We also loved Frida, Lucca, and Sen Lin (though I found the sauces a bit heavy in Sen Lin). We often walked in right when restaurants opened, even after being told they were fully booked—this worked especially well for Velas 10. The restaurant staff were fantastic, and we happily tipped throughout our stay. Thank you so much, especially to the staff at Frida and Lucca. I also loved the café—they thoughtfully packed to-go sandwiches for our departure.
Lunch at Azul and Cabrilla was less impressive, but we only tried each once. Food is ok but service is disappointing. We mostly chose poolside dining or in-room service, both consistently delicious and convenient.
The Kids Club was another highlight. Although our baby was too young to attend, we often saw the warm, energetic staff engaging with children—everyone looked happy and well cared for.
We also enjoyed the spa and hydrotherapy circuit (“water ceremony”), which was fun and relaxing, even at an extra cost.
Unfortunately, our experience with our concierge, Christian, was disappointing especially in comparison to other high end resorts we stayed with a private butler service. While he escorted us to our rooms and shared the activity schedule everyday through WhatsApp, his service felt passive and lacked initiative. We ended up booking most restaurants ourselves or doing walk-ins except Autor, Loto, and Lucca. Upon arrival, our room had only a crib and lacked expected baby items, which were delivered only after we asked. Fortunately, the resort offers many complimentary baby amenities—but only if you know to request them. I was glad I’d done my research.
Booking the signature restaurant, Autor, was frustrating. Our emails before arrival went unanswered. I requested two more times at and after check in. We then were told it was fully booked and required reservations 15 days in advance by Christian-something that should be clearly communicated online or at arrival. Only after escalating did Christian secure two seatings. The meal was enjoyable, though not way more impressive than other restaurants.
Christian also entered our room despite a “Do Not Disturb” sign one day to bring items I requested, which felt intrusive. Housekeeping was inconsistent—even when we removed the DND sign while out, the room was sometimes left untouched. The minibar was refilled only once, and I had to repeatedly follow up. When housekeeping did come, the service was good—it was just frustrating to have to chase it down.
I regret tipping Christian $60 on the first day after our arrival, assuming it would ensure better service. We also tipped pool staff regularly ($2–$5), but service there was inconsistent too—likely because we went between 3–5 p.m., near closing time, when staff were less available.
Another issue was the lack of orientation. We received little introduction to the resort or nearby activities. I had to rely on my own research to navigate dining options and amenities. While we were happy staying on-site with our baby, more guidance on local attractions or excursions would have been appreciated.
In summary, we truly enjoyed the resort’s food, rooms, and relaxed atmosphere, but the concierge experience and some service inconsistencies fell short. I wish I could give five stars, but due to these gaps—especially with our concierge—I’m giving 3 stars. I’d still recommend the resort for its dining and ambiance, but hope to see...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that this is our first all-inclusive resort that we’ve ever stayed at, and since this was our first trip to Cabo, I wanted to make sure that I was staying at the right place. and this is the right place
From the moment we arrived at the property, we were treated very well. The resort is well taken care of, maintained and clean. The check-in process was easy - and unlike other resorts I read about - there is NO time share pitches or anything taking away from your experience.
Every room at the resort has a beach view. They are large and spacious, and each one of them has their own balcony with day beds and seating. The mini fridge is filled with a variety of drinks including soda, beer, water, and milk. There are some snacks available, but to be honest, they were a little disappointing for a quality resort like this. This is definitely an area for improvement.
During our time there, we were able to enjoy dinner at Lucca (Italian), Cocina de Autor (10 course meal), and Velas 10 (Seafood & Steak). There’s so much that I can say about the restaurants, but let me summarize: you will not be disappointed. If you choose any of these three, the food was absolutely incredible and the wait staff at each of them provide some of the best service you’ll ever receive.
Be aware that outside of dinner, there are limited options for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast you can have a buffet style at Azul, or you can opt to grab some smaller items at their quick serve café AMAT. For lunch, you can again choose from either of those two or Cambrilla which primarily offers seafood options. Of the three we only ate at Azul. They had a great selection of items, but the food was mostly average and lukewarm.
My wife and I also visited the spa. At most resorts, I would say you can skip it. I wouldn’t say the same here. We opted for a couples massage and got to enjoy the water ceremony - which is a combination of four rooms: a sauna, freezer, steam and shower; followed by several massage pools, hot tub, and polar plunge. The attention that we received from Adan was top notch. He was our personal guide through the whole experience.
Advice Overall, I can’t recommend this resort enough. But here are a few pieces of advice that you might find useful:
Make sure that you decide which restaurants you want to have dinner at before you arrive. Reach out to the concierge via email to make reservations. Having direct communication with the Resort is actually more difficult than it should be. However, once you connect with them on email, they are very responsive. Make sure that you follow up on your first email
The resort is all-inclusive, including tax and gratuity. This means you won’t be paying for any of your meals or drinks (unless you’re requesting expensive liquor or wine). However, it is understood that you will still tip at the restaurants, pool, bell hops and a few others who provide services. For example, we our driver $10, bell hop $5, restaurants anywhere between $5-$20. To that end, REMEMBER TO GET CASH BEFORE YOU GET TO MEXICO. Once you are there it is difficult to get smaller bills.
Book your own transportation from the airport. The resort offers this at a cost of $300 round-trip. Which is extremely outrageous considering this is a luxury all-inclusive resort. There are several other independent transportation options which cost about $75 each way. Keep in mind that the resort is about 25 minutes away from the airport and between both towns of Los Cabos.
If you want to visit one of the two towns, skip San Lucas and go to San Jose unless you’re looking for a party/club scene. San Jose is a more quiet traditional small town.
Just know that the beach in front of the resort is not swimmable, but you can visit one of the five swimmable beaches by driving there or taking a...
