This is a letter I wrote after a very unpleasant experience at Hotel California. It was resent a second time with still no courtesy of a reply…||In late June, my brother who lives in La Paz, took me to visit Todos Santos… and Hotel California. I am visiting from Florida. ||I treated my family to a lovely lunch there and then we visited the Gift Shop, where I purchased a T-shirt and a bottle of Reposado Tequila. After a bit of negotiations for the tequila. The price quoted being crazy expensive, the salesperson and the manager brought the price down to $3000 Mexican pesos… approximately $175 US Dollars. (They had actually told me it would be $150 dollars US). Bad enough to lose $25 but even worse… while driving back to La Paz, I looked up the tequila and found I could purchase it for around $57 US dollars online….. and then, to add insult to injury… I looked at the ACTUAL website for Hotel California/ Gift shop and saw it for sale for $56.99. I am so insulted and disappointed to have been so extremely overcharged like this after I supported the restaurant and the gift shop with my purchases. I cannot believe that you would be so dishonest and that you would treat customers this way. ||I am sincerely hoping that you will refund my credit card the difference ($175 - $60) of $115 US dollars immediately. I will wait to hear from you within the next two days. ||I know that there is little that I can do to retrieve my hard earned money… but |the least I can do is to warn other people by posting my story online. ||Please do the right thing…|I am attaching photo of actual cost and also the copy of my receipt…|Thanking you for you kind assistance in correcting...

Read moreWe live most of the year in Los Barriles, Baja, and have spent our last two anniversaries at Hotel California. We absolutely love the place! Many antiques and beautiful furnishings, a nice restaurant with delicious seafood and other quality dishes with beautiful presentations. We love the old-time barroom, the outside tropical patios, the small private pool, as well as the bandstand area. Last visit (January) we enjoyed a great performance by David Raitt's Baja Boogie Band. Our favorite room is #1, on a corner with a lanai. Nice furnishings, beautiful drapes, very comfortable bed, and spotless clean. Want a really great room? Check out #14. With tongue-in-cheek humor they exploit the Eagles beautiful 'Hotel California', as they should, in our opinion, yet they make no claim to any actual connection to the song. This hotel is indeed a beautiful place, considering it is just an old, refurbished hotel in a small Mexican pueblo. Hyped? Naw, come on. I guess 'hype' is in the eyes of the beholder. We find it 'a lovely place,' which, in our eyes, magically fits the description and lyrics in the song. We highly recommend it. Cookie cutter Mexican Inn? What a misstatement! You will not find another like it, thanks to...
