On the heels of Hilton acquiring SLH, we discovered this little gem to visit during our Cabo honeymoon. We had an extra free night certificate to use, and this seemed to fit the bill for a short stay in the town of Todos Santos. There weren't too many post-renovation reviews at the time but we are so happy we took a risk because this was a wonderful experience.||This is a 10-room hotel with 4 different room types, which changed ownership in the last couple years and was fully renovated (again) before reopening in April 2024. There is luxurious marble and wood accents everywhere you look in a sea of tropical greenery. It is a good mix of modern luxury and it's historic roots. The main layout is a hacienda-style home with rooms on the exterior border with a interior courtyard. There is a large pool and a rooftop terrace for shared use.||Prior to arrival the concierge Kevin reached out over email to offer assistance with looking for activities---we weren't staying long enough to do much in the area, but a nice service if you want advice from a local! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink (nonalcoholic or alcoholic option available) and checked in at their reception lanai. T||We had booked the base room (historic building) which is a king or double bed room, but were generously upgraded to a lower level villa room that comes with a private terrace and plunge pool/jacuzzi. The decor was beyond beautiful with detailed touches everywhere. It came it with a large room with bed along with a closet hallway with dressing table/vanity, plus a large bathroom with toilet room, rainfall shower, and a large soaking tub. There is a dyson hair dryer which I particularly enjoyed.||Bottles of water, soda, coffee, and tea were included along with welcome chocolates. They also give additional chocolates during turndown service. other amenities include Le Labo toiletries including a bath soak, sunscreen, and bug repellent. There are alcoholic beverages and snacks for purchase.||As HIlton diamond members, we got free breakfast, which meant ordering off a good sized menu at their 1890 restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating options. We opted for the creamy eggs and chilaquiles, along with coffee and orange juice. Service was attentive and the food was yummy.||This is the perfect getaway for couples or solo travelers who want a quiet respite in a luxurious, hidden away locale. The staff is friendly and the Whatsapp messaging service makes communicating...
Read moreWhile wandering the charming streets of Todos Santos we decided to look for a place to eat and cool down. Ahead we saw a stand with menus and sight unseen we decided to enter this brick building.
Turns out we were at La Copa Bar. An amazing refined old world bar that was totally unexpected. We sat at the bar and had some drinks from a gracious host and bartender. We asked if they were serving food but they said the restaurant (turns out it was called @1890.bcs ) was not yet opened...but no problem, they will make whatever we want. We had a light and delicious lunch and as we were leaving the concierge saw us and asked us if we wanted a tour of the hotel. We didn't even know there was a hotel here. He showed us some of their AMAZING rooms, the wine cellar and the interior pool that the hotel surrounded. The pool reminded us of a cenote. He asked us where we were staying and if we wanted to stay a night here. We were on our honeymoon and were already booked to fly back. The hotel and what we saw of it and wonderful staff convinced us to extend our stay by one day. After some calls to the airlines we had an extra day and a room at TSBH.
The concierge was kind enough to book us a massage and also a wine pairing dinner in the wine cellar. With no exaggeration we agreed that the massage was the best we ever had! Dinner was amazing in the beautiful wine cellar.
Our room was one of the master suites on the ground level with our own plunge pool/Jacuzzi. The room is hard to describe and was the nicest hotel room we have ever seen, and we are connoisseurs of fine hotels. We took some pictures but they do not do the rooms justice. Even the pictures on their site do not do the hotel justice. Oh there is no card key here. Each room has its own actual key (see picture). Welcome truffles greeted us in the room along with bottled water and snack. A well appointed bar is also available. When we arrived there was also a welcome drink...made with Mezcal and Amore!
The Hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. If you stayed here maybe 3-5 years ago....that is NOT the same hotel. This was lovingly renovated recently and has beautiful murals carefully curated to present the history of the area. The front entry walls still have some bullet holes preserved.
As the owners say, when you come to stay a second time, we say...
Read moreWe SOOO much wanted to love this beautiful hotel but it only deserved Two Stars! One goes to the historical site and the other goes to the only friendly, welcoming young guy working at the front desk who helped us checking in and offered lots of help during his half day shift)
Firstly, for 177 USD per night, we expect WAAAY warmer and friendlier services!!! The hotel itself was a charming historical site, however, everyone working on site seemed bothered when we asked for simple things like water... with this rate we expected a simple coffee maker/kettle and a fridge in room at least, but unfortunately non of that was included. Complimentary coffee and tea were only available for breakfast hours, and since there was no kettle/coffee maker in room, we asked for some hot water to make tea ourselves in the afternoon, but the front desk told us to go down to their restaurant and buy drinks???? Come on, even an airport transfer hotel has a coffee maker in room and an all-day complimentary coffee & team station!
Secondly, the hotel WIFI is EXTREMELY SLOW & SPOTTY! (Couldn’t send any photos on whatsApp nor browsing on social media)
Thirdly, the service was extremely inconsistent! They made our beds on the first night nicely before we went back to our rooms in the evening, but nothing was made on the second night?!!!
Lastly, CHECK YOUR BILLS WHEN YOU CHECK OUT!!! They added in someone else’s breakfast bill to ours, with someone else's signature! Very unpleasant experience!
Overall, very cold, unfriendly, and inconsistent services with UNCLEAR communications! Nobody truly cared about their customers nor wanted to provide an environment of home away from home, instead everything felt extremely DISINGENUOUS and incentivized by money. Paid over 700 USD for this hotel but left...
