Mejibó Todos Santos — Restaurant in Baja California Sur

I have never given a 1 star review before but this one was earned with flying colors. The food and preparation was OK to good level, nothing exceptional, the guys working the kitchen are doing their jobs, but the hostess and waiter we had on June 25th 2021 made this for a very difficult and confusing experience. We waited 50 min for our first order to arrive which was an appetizer. Our 'heirloom tomato' salad took about 70 min to arrive. Then after waiting for about 100 min we got our main courses and were told we had to leave because it was time to close. We have had great service at our hotel, next door the night before and anywhere we have been on this trip in Baja Sur. The way were were treated at Mejibo was absolutely appalling. People who got in much later than us got their orders and finished dinner and left before we even saw our main meals. We were asked whether we wanted to take home our leftover appetizers 4 times, each time the answer was no. If we answer 'no' once to that question it is unlikely we would change our mind. I had the orange flan dessert with whipped cream and fruit on the side. It was the best flan I’ve ever had in my life. It had a very pleasant hint of orange flavor, more a highlight than anything else. The fruit was fresh blueberries and strawberries, and the whipped cream was unlike any whipped cream I’ve ever had. It was like a cross between sweet whipped cream and lightly salted whipped butter. It was just absolutely delicious and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

My son in law got a hamburger which he said was phenomenal with everything on it being so good. Even the fries that came with it were so good. I tried one and it had a perfect crispy coating that was perfectly seasoned. This restaurant deserves every star it gets. The server, a very pretty young lady who speaks perfect English is the co-owner with her boyfriend who is the master chef, and I do mean master. He is the sole creator of all the recipes. They have outdoor and indoor seating and a friendly atmosphere.

Pretty disappointed. We visited many times at the old location and were excited to try out the new restaurant. Arrived early with only one other couple in the restaurant, who were just served their meal. Ordered two sushi rolls, sashimi, and calamari. Drinks came quickly, but it took 20 minutes to get just the sashimi. Then waited another 25 minutes for one roll and the calamari. We watched the other tables fill up and then food served and the second roll was still not served. After one hour, we cancelled the second sushi roll and asked for the bill. No apology, and provided with a bad attitude. It shouldn't take an hour to serve something so simple, when the restaurant was empty when we arrived. And I don't want to eat my dinner in stages, I would like it served at once. The food was adequate, but not near as tasty as I remember.
