If you’re seeking an authentic, unforgettable paella experience, look no further than Taberna Española. This charming Spanish eatery consistently delivers some of the best paella you’ll find outside of Spain. The moment you take your first bite, it’s clear that every detail has been carefully considered—from the fresh, high-quality ingredients to the perfect technique in preparation.
The seafood paella is a standout. It’s a beautiful symphony of perfectly cooked shrimp, tender squid, and plump mussels, all bathed in a rich, saffron-infused broth. The rice, absorbing all those vibrant flavors, is cooked to perfection—moist yet with a slight bite, and with a satisfying socarrat at the bottom that adds a delightful crunch. The delicate balance of seasoning, from the earthy saffron to the aromatic garlic and paprika, is spot-on. It’s bold but never overpowering, letting the natural sweetness of the seafood shine through.
For those who prefer a heartier option, the mixed paella is just as impressive. The combination of chicken, pork , and chorizo adds a depth of flavor that’s complemented by the delicate smokiness of the chorizo. The meat is tender and infused with the flavors of the sofrito and herbs, creating a comforting, flavorful base that perfectly supports the rice.
What truly sets Taberna Española apart is its commitment to tradition. The paella is served in the classic pan, allowing the vibrant colors and rustic beauty of the dish to shine. The atmosphere in the restaurant complements the meal perfectly—warm, welcoming, and steeped in Spanish charm. It’s a place where you can truly savor each bite, and the friendly service makes you feel right at home.
Whether you’re a paella connoisseur or a first-timer, Taberna Española is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates the art of fine Spanish cooking. Each bite is a reminder of what great paella should be: flavorful, satisfying, and made with passion.

Read moreLovely setting right in a marina. Server was knowledgeable about wines. Highly recommend their many delicious tapas options such as blue cheese croquettes-- delicious enough for a blue cheese hater like myself to eat several-- jamon de Serrano, an item garnished with quail egg (!) and more. We also got the paella 🥘 which had a delicious flavor and delicious shellfish but unfortunately zero saffron (disappointing) and the paella was NOT cooked in the pan in which they serve it, so no crust. It was a good portion for two to four people. We noticed other tables got a "shoo fly" windmill like device but we didn't have one which proved to be a problem. The flies were very drawn to the crab claw and shellfish shells. Overall, we had a delightful experience, but the lack of a shoo fly subtracted a star, and the paella was not everything I hoped...
