I had a remarkable experience at 1890, nestled within a recently rejuvenated boutique hotel with a rich historical pedigree. The ambiance exudes sophistication and allure, characterized by dark interiors, diverse stone textures, antiqued mirrors, tasteful wallpapers, and plush furnishings that collectively create an inviting atmosphere.
Our culinary journey commenced with an off-menu delight: jamon iberico paired elegantly with pitted olives. For the main course, we savored josper-grilled pork chops and a decadent wagyu NY striploin in a red wine reduction, complemented by velvety smooth mashed potatoes. The meal was superbly crafted and accompanied by impeccable service, culminating in an indulgent finale with an opera cake.
Beyond the dining experience, the boutique hotel itself is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring exquisite stonework, intricate brick detailing, luxurious textures, and lush tropical greenery. The building, steeped in history dating back to 1890, has been lovingly restored with a nod to local architecture, preserving its original facade and ensuring a visual delight for design aficionados.
I highly recommend arriving early to explore the hotel's captivating grounds and delve into its fascinating history. The hotel staff was so accommodating and happily gave us a tour of the grounds and a look inside one of the suites.
Pro tip: Begin your evening at La Copa, their lounge and bar, for a delightful aperitif. Your visit promises to be an unforgettable journey through...
Read moreFantastic!!! The hotel, bar, restaurant, and the different seating areas inside & out, are gorgeous. Beautifully designed (with clearly no expense spared). And the food was top notch, as good as any major city high-end offering. We were very pleasantly surprised at how perfectly prepared all the food was (we had apps and ‘surf and turf’ mains (totoaba fish & filet / steak), all spot-on tasty and beautifully served. We ate downstairs inside by the kitchen (which we loved to get to see) & recommend it. The wait staff was very well trained which was lovely-everyone that worked there was doing a great job. We live in San Miguel de Allende & wish this place was there—we will go to 1890 any time we are in the area & look forward to staying at the hotel next time. I wish we’d stayed there this time. We also ate at Benno restaurant in Todos Santos which recently got a Michelin nod but why 1890 did not is very unclear as everything about it was better than Benno in our...
Read moreI am an old guy. I have eaten at many excellent restaurants in many parts of the world. My wife and I went to 1810 in Todos Santos on a friend’s recommendation. The bar and martini were excellent. Service and hospitality, also excellent. Wine, service and seating for dinner wonderful. The appetizer, beef tartar exquisite. It is 8:00 on a Saturday night and they are out of my first choice for a main course, rack of lamb sold out. Second choice, wagyu steak also gone. Very disappointing. So I went for another option. But, this is the great part. They were able to pull out a save. With out asking they presented an option for a fillet of beef, not even on the menu. Now, since it wasn’t a menu item, I’m betting that someone said we have this beef we use for the tartare, we can use this to make a tender fillet. This kind of service is rare and needs to be applauded. They turned a potential disappointment into a fine dining experience. We will be back as soon...
