This review is regarding the Club building at the south end. Unless you are an owner, you’ll probably get a very old room like we did. They are currently updating the “club” building. (We booked through our timeshare company, RCI. We did the presentation to get oceanview rooms. To their credit, it was the shortest presentation we’ve been through, largely because we saved all of our complaints until the end.) But as a family who’s been to Mexico over 30 times, we are surprised that the pool area isn’t updated. (More often than not, the pools will be very nice, but the rooms will be in need of updating.) The main walkways around the pools are made of old brick. There’s basically nothing special about this resort. There’s no river pool, there’s no lively music at either of the pools, there’s no consistent nighttime show or night club, there’s no infinity pool or really much of an ocean view at all from the pools. (I suggested they build the next pools closer to the ocean.) The ocean, as in all of PV and NV, is just a dark blue, no aqua water like the Caribbean side or north of Nuevo Vallarta on the point or even Cabo.
We have two, one-bedroom units, and only one of the four ancient phones work, and even that is intermittent. One of our sinks barely drains, and there was a long hair in our fridge when we arrived. Worstly, one of our units had two beds that had sheets that were so wet we couldn’t sleep in them without using our heating pad to dry them out or layer my daughter with blankets from home so she wouldn’t have to feel the dampness. It’s not so bad in my room because I don’t use the A/C, but she keeps the A/C on, and I swear it’s sending the moisture back into her room. Everything is damp in her room, and we’ve been here for three days. (Yes, she uses the fan during and after she showers.)
I’m just really surprised this place gets great reviews. I’m guessing they’re from from people that don’t visit large resorts in Mexico much, or maybe they advertise to residents more than the others.
The nicest place we’ve stayed? Besides lack of an aqua ocean, the Vidanta in Nuevo Vallarta is very nice and elegant, especially for how relatively inexpensive it is. (I don’t like the Vidanta in the Mayan Riviera...
Read moreWe had difficulty here. First room in the RCI Buganvilias part of the resort was not acceptable. There was a bathtub with shower walls built around it. The edge to step over was up to my knees and I am 5’7”. Get over and then you were still stepping down into the tub. We could not get in. No handrails to help you either. At the front desk I had to leave a message for the manager. Was told she would contact me in about 30 minutes. Over 90 minutes later I went back down. Still no manager response. A timeshare seller from RCI said she could help me. Great! Move from near the top floor to ground level. Fine, great. She shows me the room. When my husband and I go back with our luggage neither key will work. She accuses me of doing something to the lock as we left the room. Not even possible. She is angry. She goes back and she can’t open the door. Bad language follows. She sends maintenance. Turns out the door has a tricky handle. Maintenance fellow shows us and we get in. OMG! Turn on the hot water in the bathroom sink and water, lots leaks out of the cold water tap across the counter top. The kitchen sink tap is hard to shut off. Must jiggle it around to get the water to shut off. I report this but 3 days and no one comes to fix these. In the kitchen the cutlery tray sits on the floor of the bottom set of cabinets. One plug in for a toaster, blender and coffee maker. The coffee maker was like brand new. Nice. But they do have machines where you can do your own laundry. Work well. You meet those timeshare folks upon arrival. All kinds of deals they are offering you to go to the presentation before and after. But more than anything I would have liked a bit of a tour of this massive property. Two massive and winding pools but only 4” deep to very shallow. Many restaurants and bars. Limited ocean swimming. Bus stop out front 10 pesos to go anywhere. Many taxis...
Read moreTonight we went to Umai Asian restaurant. It's worth trying it out. We had a great meal with their wonderful grilled salmon. The staff was attentive and we enjoyed eating here.
We went to the timeshare presentation. It wasn't too much, but three hours later. Now, we're ready for pool and dinner. The weather is perfect!
Great Buffet Sunday bunch at the restaurant at Club Sheraton with live music and all. We enjoyed being treated special. The pool was warm. It got cold and windy 3:30pm at the pool. So, we headed back to our beautiful one room condo. Our friends said that they would join us next year!
What a difference between our last weeks stay and here. We love it here in our one bedroom condo. Beautiful, clean comfortable beds and two bathrooms and all. Our view is looking out toward the pool with water fall to the left. Quiet and off to the side. The pool is warm and wonderful. The restaurant we went to was great. We had the salmon that was grilled perfectly. The lemon drops was tasty and so good! A great first day here again!
We just checked in today. We upgraded to a higher floor with VIP benefits for going to a timeshare presentation. The one bedroom unit has a great view toward the town and the beach below. The hamburger at the pool restaurant was plenty for my wife and I to share. The kitchen is nice with a new full sized refrigerator. So, I had to go to the supermarket for some items to put into it. I might get to doing a meal or two while we're here. Tomorrow is the Sunday Bunch with live music and all. The pool was warm for exercising in it today. Even with the breezy winds and rain to follow, we managed to get it in. We enjoy...
