6 of us stayed here for 3 nights - we rented the penthouse #1 (don martin's room) and just a king ocean view room. ||I'll start with the bad - both the receptionist and the concierge absolutely LIED to my face. On the paramar website it says one of the advantages to booking directly through them (instead of expedia or other 3rd party) is that they offer early checkin and late check out WHEN AVAILABLE. They also sent email confirmations for the rooms that said the same thing, even said in the email late check out until 6pm upon availability. So the day of check out I go to the front desk to inquire if it would be available to 2pm for either of the 2 rooms. Bianca checked the computer and said "no, both of your rooms have people coming to stay tonight." At breakfast I checked online and there is only (1) penthouse #1 - Don Martin room, and it was available to book that night - meaning NO ONE WAS CHECKING INTO IT. So I go back to the front desk and this time Fransisco is there. I ask him about late check out and he looks at the computer and says, no, someone has the room booked for tonight and they need time to clean it. SO they BOTH lied to my face. I pulled out my phone and showed him that it was still available to book it so no one had already booked it for the night. He then changes his story and says that I can book it for the night if I want late check out. I even show him the email and website saying that the Paramar offers late check out upon availability and the room is available. Francisco says no, they don't do that - we would have to pay for another night. ||Then, either out of spite or just their systems not working correctly - both of our rooms locked at 11am and we couldn't get back in. (check out is a 12pm as stated on the website and email) We still had all of our belongings in our room and someone had to come open the door for us. ||I could totally understand if they were fully booked - but not only our room was available to be booked - there were at least 3 king ocean view rooms available to book. ||I don't know what their deal was. and I HATE HATE HATE being lied to. ||The pool was beautiful, the views were great, breakfast was delicious, the few snack we got for lunch were good, and the location is pretty good. ||If you walk out the front of the hotel and go left down the street to the corner there is the best taco place ever. It just said "carnitas" on it but they had steak and chorizo tacos as well. Definitely check them out. ||This was our second time staying there - unfortunately, we will not be back. ||Please either train your staff to not lie, it left a bitter ending...

Frist, the location. While not our ideal (we would have preferred to be closer to Zona Romantica), this hotel and our room was in a great location. There were 8 rooms per each of the 4 main floors. All except x06 (106, 206, etc) face the beach, with beachfront balconies. The x06 rooms have garden views. The hotel is not on the beach but across a small access road. Fortunately, the spot across from the hotel is an empty lot for local beach access. Our room on the first floor, 107, had unobstructed views. Nearby places like Captain Don's, Pepe's Tacos, and Tacon de Marlin made this a great location for our first trip to PV.
Second, the room. We selected this place from booking.com. We've had experiences where the photos online were from the best or use fisheye to make them seem bigger, while the one you get was more dated or otherwise not as good. This hotel was the one of the good ones where the room matched the photos. It was roomy, clean, and exactly as described. We appreciated the full size refrigerator, microwave and 4 burner stove, with pots, pans and other kitchen utensils. And the all-important bottle/wine opener!
Third, the price. For roughly $150 per night, our beachfront room was a bargain.
Fourth, the amenities. While not a 5 star resort, the hotel had gated entrances, gated parking, rooftop pool, rooftop bar/grill, complimentary beach chairs, towel and bag, and glass railings which offered fantastic views of the beach, ocean, sunset and PV in general.
Fifth, the ability to have the balcony door open to sleep to the waves at night. There were absolutely no mosquitos or flies, or other bugs to worry about. We could leave the sliding glass door open to enjoy the evening breeze and the sound of the waves crashing. One observation, though - the restaurant diagonally across the street played loud party music at night. However, it did stop after 11 pm on Sunday night and after 9-10 pm on weekdays.
Sixth, did I mentioned the sunsets? Unobstructed views from our balcony and from the rooftop. The rooftop is better in that after the sunset you can enjoy the lights of the city across...
Read moreWe stayed for 10 nights. The location is good; right across from the beach with full view of the ocean from our patio. The rooms are big, cleaned well and had a little kitchenette; the fridge had a nice big freezer and everything but a blender. The kitchenette was better here than in most hotels.
Breakfast was really good; with many choices and we loved the serving staff who were always bubbly and upbeat. We have travelled all over the world and the free breakfast was the best we have been offered as part of the nightly fee.
The neighborhood is o.k.; there is a bar across the street, so it does attract people who drink and this often dribbles out on the sidewalks. We felt safe but also employed the same street smarts we would at home walking through an area that has bars. The front desk people and concierge were lovely but we are not super needy or harboring unrealistic expectations of people. We didn't use the pool but it looked clean and what a great view on the rooftop. Yes the bar across the street had loud music but this not the hotel's fault and honestly, nowhere near as noisy, disrespectful and disruptive as our neighbors: who screamed, yelled and swore all day and night and who had no regard for anyone else-also, not the hotel's fault but there were a couple of times the young woman next door was locked out of her room and she literally moaned and groaned in the hallway for hours on end. This did kind of scare me because she seemed intoxicated, unpredictable and full of rage. I am writing this part not to shame anyone but raise awareness that there are other people in the hotel who paid quite a bit of money, for a smaller; quieter hotel experience, some of whom have come from far and away who deserve consideration and respect.
The sunsets were beautiful. There were also spectacular fireworks outside our patio almost every night.
The hotel offers free drinking water, towels for the beach and there are several books for reading in the lobby that you can borrow in both Spanish and English.
Yes we would come back and will make a point of it if we should...
