Price: I wouldn't say its a 4-star, more like 3.5-star. I think this is reflected in the price per night. Taxes & fees included, I paid MXN$884 (around $43 USD) per night, which was a pretty good deal in my opinion.
Room: Nice. Lots of space with a big TV. The bed was a King Size but rock hard (I personally didn't mind it). Bathroom was sufficient, although strange toilet placement as you had to shift your body to the left and sit sideways due to a wall on the right side (weird lol). Also, it took some time for the hot water to start pumping out. I wish there was a fridge. Closet provided hangers and a safe. There was wide desk/counter that was more than sufficient to get some things done on my laptop. Walls were a bit thin, as you can hear people walking and talking in the hallways.
Location: Great, either walking distance or a quick Didi/Uber ride to many cafés/restaurants and popular tourist destinations. I walked to the El Ángel de la Independencia in just under 20 minutes. I took a Didi ride to Chapultepec Park and it cost me MXN$80 (about $4 USD) and that's including tip. You can walk Jardín del Arte Sullivan Park in under 10 minutes where people were both painting and selling paintings which I thought was really cool. Across the street from Jardín del Arte Sullivan Park there was 'Twerking' dance lessons happening, lol. There are many shops nearby like Walmart Express where you can buy the standard essentials if need be.
Staff: No complaints. Didn't really mingle, just polite head nod acknowledgements when walking in and out of the main entrance. Cleaning ladies were really nice when encountering them in the hallways.
Overall: I would have given the place 4 stars if it weren't the excessive noise throughout the entirety of the first 2 nights. My room was facing Serapio Rendon street, and there was a house that was bumping music until the early morning. I thought perhaps it was a normal thing, then realized that it was labor day weekend Mexico (labor day being on Sunday which I thought was weird). The last night I spend there (Sunday night), the music stopped and finally got an...
Read moreFor almost two years I have been staying at this hotel. Centrally it is in a good place. It's within walking distance to a greak bakery across the street, a coffee shop half a block, an Oxxo one block and some good restaurants all within walking distance. The bellmen are great and pretty friendly with one remembering me because I leave a coffee maker for my personal use. Front desk pwople are usually pretty friendly and professional. The outside of the property and parking area are well kept and clean. There is free parking on site for guests. The rooms are very clean an well stocked with free water daily, good towels and clean bedding. I've found housekeeping very friendly. Theres one housekeeper, an older lady whos very sweet about stocking the room and any extras needed. I'll be sure to get her name when Im back in Sept. There are a few misses though. And this isnt meant to slam the hotel just some ideas to make it even better. The mattresses can be harder than most I've slept on traveling. I think this is a México thing as Ive stayed at other properties around the country and theyve all had hard mattresses. It would be nice if there was a loyalty program to encourage repeat stays. There's no coffee pot/maker. Like I said before I bought a coffee maker and leave it for my use when I stay. Providing even a one cup maker would be great. One last thing to make the room great, an iron and iron board. A lot of my shirts need to be ironed. I could buy the stuff and leave it but that might be a bit much. So now I bring a small steamer with me and it works well. Despite the small things listed, as long as staff are friendly and rooms and property are well equipped and clean I will continue...
Read moreI would say this is about the equivalent of a Red Roof in the states. It was affordable but we decided to go somewhere else. I've never checked in and checked out immediately, but this place made it a first.
The desk clerk was attentive, but we thought it was strange to not only have our room key handed to us but our TV remote. This immediately reminded us of a hostel not of a hotel. We took the remote and headed up to room that smelled like a hospital. There was a strong disinfectant smell as soon as we entered.
At first glance we thought the room was okay since we paid about $60 for it. However we noticed that the bathroom was still dirty with hairs on the floor and some other things. Behind the trash can in the bathroom there was something smeared in the corner above it. The light panel was moved exposing the electrical wiring and honestly just seemed creepy. Next, there was some wrappers under the light beige couch. The sheets were thin and rough. The room overall just seemed liked it was sterilized like a cheap motel. When we checked out an hour later the desk clerk didn't ask us anything about why we were checking out so soon. It almost seemed as if...
