In terms of pros, the hotel and grounds are beautiful. The pool is lovely and we liked the character of the building. The rooms are very nice although a little small when you have two big suitcases so we upgraded to a bigger room as a result. The staff at the pool are lovely and were very keen to help my partner improve his Spanish. The cleaning of the rooms twice a day was spectacular - they cleaned and organized everything perfectly and beyond our expectations.||In terms of negatives, unfortunately the reception staff severely let the hotel down.|They were not friendly or welcoming, didn't show us round the hotel or explain where anything was. They didn't ask for a deposit upon check in but then expected us to have credit on our room, again no explanation or details provided whatsoever. When we enquired about breakfast they were very rude and unhelpful - to the point we just got breakfast outside the hotel.||They also neglected to tell us until after we checked in that there was a wedding on at the weekend. However, our room was nonrefundable so nothing we could do about it and no changes could be made.||Nevertheless, reception told us the music would not go on past 11PM. However, music was still blaring gone 12 and we had a group of women outside our door until 1am, cackling, whistling and howling for no known reason. The hotel staff did not supervise this nor care about the other hotel guests that had to put up with this behavior. If you’re going to hold weddings without notice to guests, atleast bother to enforce basic standards of care. ||Overall, it’s a nice hotel but there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to service...
Read moreA group of 10 of our closest friends were on our way to Oaxaca to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday for a four day Mexican adventure, a once in a lifetime bucket list item for a once in a lifetime moment. We were all planning on staying at Quinta Real. We had booked transportation, restaurants, tours, tastings, a full four day itinerary that we had spent months crafting to try and make perfect for this very special occassion in a very special city.|| This was all upended when bad weather rerouted our flight, missing our connection, with no viable options to rebook an entire group of 10 people in time to enjoy the trip. My wife was devastated, in tears, the trip she had been looking forward to all year completely ruined at no fault of her own.||I called to see what Quinta Real could honor our reservation by booking a different date, a credit, a discount, or ANYTHING to ease the pain. We wanted to come back (and we will be, just not with this hotel), and we wanted to continue working with Quinta Real to make this mutually beneficial for both parties. Instead, they could not care less and are keeping the entire thing, four nights to the tune of thousands of dollars in exchange for not having to lift a finger to do anything for 10 guests now. Most important of all, however, is the lack of any professionalism, sympathy, politeness, or kind words under these special circumstances--they simply don't care. The human element of compassion is what I care about when I consider or recommend a place. I do not recommend Quinta Real--they have shown that they lack this element when it...
