In terms of pros, the hotel and grounds are beautiful. The pool is lovely and we liked the character of the building. The rooms are very nice although a little small when you have two big suitcases so we upgraded to a bigger room as a result. The staff at the pool are lovely and were very keen to help my partner improve his Spanish. The cleaning of the rooms twice a day was spectacular - they cleaned and organized everything perfectly and beyond our expectations.||In terms of negatives, unfortunately the reception staff severely let the hotel down.|They were not friendly or welcoming, didn't show us round the hotel or explain where anything was. They didn't ask for a deposit upon check in but then expected us to have credit on our room, again no explanation or details provided whatsoever. When we enquired about breakfast they were very rude and unhelpful - to the point we just got breakfast outside the hotel.||They also neglected to tell us until after we checked in that there was a wedding on at the weekend. However, our room was nonrefundable so nothing we could do about it and no changes could be made.||Nevertheless, reception told us the music would not go on past 11PM. However, music was still blaring gone 12 and we had a group of women outside our door until 1am, cackling, whistling and howling for no known reason. The hotel staff did not supervise this nor care about the other hotel guests that had to put up with this behavior. If you’re going to hold weddings without notice to guests, atleast bother to enforce basic standards of care. ||Overall, it’s a nice hotel but there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to service...

A group of 10 of our closest friends were on our way to Oaxaca to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday for a four day Mexican adventure, a once in a lifetime bucket list item for a once in a lifetime moment. We were all planning on staying at Quinta Real. We had booked transportation, restaurants, tours, tastings, a full four day itinerary that we had spent months crafting to try and make perfect for this very special occassion in a very special city.|| This was all upended when bad weather rerouted our flight, missing our connection, with no viable options to rebook an entire group of 10 people in time to enjoy the trip. My wife was devastated, in tears, the trip she had been looking forward to all year completely ruined at no fault of her own.||I called to see what Quinta Real could honor our reservation by booking a different date, a credit, a discount, or ANYTHING to ease the pain. We wanted to come back (and we will be, just not with this hotel), and we wanted to continue working with Quinta Real to make this mutually beneficial for both parties. Instead, they could not care less and are keeping the entire thing, four nights to the tune of thousands of dollars in exchange for not having to lift a finger to do anything for 10 guests now. Most important of all, however, is the lack of any professionalism, sympathy, politeness, or kind words under these special circumstances--they simply don't care. The human element of compassion is what I care about when I consider or recommend a place. I do not recommend Quinta Real--they have shown that they lack this element when it...

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding here and I must say that it's a truly beautiful and unique venue, pretty popular here in Oaxaca. The hotel itself is stunning, with its gorgeous architecture and lush gardens providing a stunning backdrop for the wedding. The staff at the hotel were incredibly helpful and professional, and went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly and that all of the guests were well taken care of. The wedding ceremony itself was held in the hotel's beautiful courtyard, which was perfect for the ancestral ceremony. It was followed by a couples and family session, and an exciting calenda around the center of Oaxaca (the hotel's location is perfect as it's right in the centre). The reception was held in the hotel's grand ballroom, which was elegantly decorated and provided a perfect setting for the newlyweds and their guests to celebrate, from dinner and elegant first dances, to a crazy fiesta! Overall, we were extremely impressed with the Quinta Real hotel and the wedding that we had the pleasure of photographing there. It's perfect if you're looking for an "hacienda style" venue (it's an actual ex-convent). So, I highly recommend this hotel for simply staying for some nights, or for getting married here in Oaxaca!

I truly don’t know how you can give this beautiful hotel anything less than a 15/10! I stayed here 9 days for my wedding with 70 of my guests and they all LOVED IT. The service is incredible from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Location is perfect. All the staff went above and beyond for us, room service is quick, cleaning staff are not just friendly but so helpful in every way, we had our clothes washed and left in perfect condition. I had my wedding here and it was more perfect than I could imagine. All of my guests said it was out of a movie 🥲✨. The Food was great, ambiance and vibes were beyond beautiful and again, the staff was why this place keeps running. We spent a lot of time at the pool eating and drinking. The food was great and the drinks were equally delicious. The pool area was a highlight of the hotel for us. And like all of the reviews mentioned, the hotel is stunning, every corner you turn is picturesque. Which is one of the reasons why I chose to have my wedding here, Its magic. The list goes on for how incredible this hotel experience was. We’ve said over and over again here, “ how can we come to Oaxaca and not stay at Quinta?” Gracias Quinta Staff!

This is a great modern hotel in Oaxaca within a well preserved colonial era convent. Service is low key and impeccable. The pool is refreshing and clean. Web reviews say the large outdoor pool is heated but when we visited in late March it was at 72°F. We saw a wedding party in the hall and it was beautifully set for about 150 guests with lots of unused space available. The restaurant menu is creative and fresh and the buffet was appealing and generous, and mostly fine, traditional Oaxaca Mexican fare. (If you require American mini wheats or raisin bran it would be best to bring your own.) The rooms vary a little in size and form, and are soundproofed enough to squelch a loud party completely, but I did detect a fully loaded truck pass by, only once. Beds were terrific and the hot water flowed generously. We would be happy to stay again. Prices were all over the map online so be sure to shop all the major travel sites. P.s. these folks are aces on the social media, so I am not sure it's entirely coincidental that the buffet today has a variety of 8 American style cold cereals. #gucciservice
