We went there twice - first time for lunch and the avocado toast had salad that obviously wasn’t fresh, crumpled. Second time for breakfast which was a total mess, and one waitress the least nice we had during our whole trip. We order waffles with Nutella and banana and pancakes with maple syrup, they served the waffles and pancakes with nothing, we had to wait 10 min and ask 5 times to get the sides. So my kids ate them cold. Anyway not a big deal. But the waitress became extremely rude when I mentioned there was not one but several charges that we didn’t order, and pretended that I made a mistake. Of course she brought a new ticket with one of the charges taken away, didn’t look at me only my husband, which was very rude as I was checking the bill, and literally threw it on the table. Then I came to tell her there still were things that we didn’t take, she told me to sit down and wait in an agressive way. Finally another waitress took away what we didn’t take, and oh by surprise that made quite a few euros difference. Service is slow, unorganized, not even nice and smiling (we went to casa Taviche who also made a “mistake” but they were really nice and smiling, and the food was impressive, so of course you take it in a whole different way than with this kind of rude service). Food is below average, it’s more like some fast food or cafe than a real restaurant. I would definitely not suggest you go there for lunch or dinner, you would be very disappointed knowing how many amazing restaurants you have around. Breakfast was average. Anyway, they should definitely improve the quality of the service which is the worst we had for all of our trip from...
Read moreI had this restaurant on my list for brunch and finally made it after 5 weeks in Oaxaca, but sadly it was one of the worst meals I had. I first ordered the jugo verde, which should have had both orange and apple juice in but clearly didn’t include either meaning it had no flavour / substance - it was just green water. They allowed me to change it for another type of juice, which was a little better but still pretty unexciting and also quite small. I then ordered the Manchaca con huevo and explained that I have an allergy to diary so requested no cheese, butter etc, which was acknowledged, but it still came out with cheese sprinkled over the refried beans and so had to go back. It was obvious the kitchen then simply removed the beans and some of the egg and sent the same dish back with new beans, by which point it was only luke warm and the plate also had a large fingerprint smeared across the side. The scrambled egg was very dry and didn’t have much flavour and the tortillas were similarly dry and very chewy so the meal was extremely boring overall, even with the addition of salsa picante. The patio area is also very dark due to all the umbrellas meaning there are only one or two tables it’s possible to work at. It’s a shame but I definitely can’t recommend...
Read moreDon’t give in the hype. Go somewhere else for food (like Chepiche Cafe.)
We waited 25 minutes for a table for two, which would have been fine if the food was amazing. We ordered waffles with fresh fruit and a dish with tortillas and mole sauce with cheese and eggs. Eggs were over cooked and the tortillas were stale and chewy. The whole thing was cold and flavourless. Even salsa couldn’t save it. The waffles were great but we had to ask for maple syrup as they were a bit dry. The fruit had mould on them. We picked the mould off and ate around it as we really aren’t that fussed by it but we did very nicely and quietly tell the waiter and showed him the mould. He was not at all apologetic and not that we were expecting it but the did not take any $$ off the bill or give complimentary coffee.
The menu was pretty average overall I don’t understand why this place is on the top of all blogs. There are so many other great places that aren’t half as busy. Go...
