As many other reviewers state, the view from the balcony, over the town, is great at all times of the day. The steep ascent up tiled stairs reminded me a little of some hotels on Greek islands, but without the blue sea beyond. The first impression was more like a youth hostel, with many people trying to pass in a narrow entrance and a receptionist hunched over a screen of security cameras. ||||Room #6, and possibly the whole hotel, was in need of some care. It was large, with two beds. The king-sized bed creaked whenever you breathed! Only one of three low-level lights worked; the overhead fan did not work; the windows had not been cleaned for a long while and there was a general level of dustiness to the place. The bathroom was dark and the talavera tiles in the shower were slippery. The toilet was right next to a wall, so you had to sit sideways!||||Still, $75 US per night in San Miguel de Allende is almost an expected price these days. The receptionist wanted upfront payment in cash. Bizarrely, several minutes later, she banged on the door of the room, asking me to fill out a registration form, in a dark hallway. Some minutes after that, she called the room to ask what time we wanted the 'very light' breakfast of 'juice or milk, tea or coffee'. As this did not even start until 9am, we skipped it, so I can't comment.||||There is a public location across the street, with a view of the town, where people stop to take pictures. There is parking here, if you are lucky. As is common in San Miguel, there is traffic noise until quite late. The hotel is very close to the narrow, east-side 'Salida Querétaro' road, which takes traffic into and...
