Los Milagros Terraza — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

I called this place on Tuesday june 28 at 7:41 pm to make a reservation for Thursday june 30 at 7:30 pm for 5 people and requested to be next to the balcony. On Thursday june 30 at 5:47 pm i called the restaurant again to change my reservation to 6 people and I also confirmed that we will have a table next to the balcony. Both times it was confirmed that we had a reservation and that we will be sat next to the balcony. on arrival we were greeted my the manager Gabriel. I let him know that we had a reservation and gave him my name and he told me no such reservation existed. He said that i must have confused the restaurant for the other location. I showed him the number I called to make a reservation and he said that, that was the correct number but that no reservation with my name existed and showed me his list of 2 names he had written down on a piece of paper. He said he could still sit my party down and I asked if it would be next to the balcony and he said no and if the reservation existed then he would have sat us next to the balcony. I told him that I will call the number to confirm. He began to walk back to the inside of the restaurant as I called the restaurant again at 7:30 pm and spoke to someone that confirmed yes I did in fact have a reservation and then the call was abruptly hung up and I saw Gabriel begin to walk towards us again. He brought my party over to the front to show us where he can sit us and he said that if it was an error on his end then he’s sorry but that’s all he has available for now. I asked him what was the issue or what occurred and let him know I just called the number and confirmed there was a reservation and thats when he began to speak very rudely to me and my party. One of the things he said to me was “what do you want me to do? You want me to tell one of these parties sitting down to get up so that you can sit there?” “Que quieres que yo haga? Quieres que le diga a la fiesta que están sentados que se tienen que ir porque tu te quieres sentar allí” i looked at him shocked that he would say that and told him “no that’s obviously not what im asking don’t be that way” “no obviamente no te estoy diciendo eso. No seas así” this is when a member of my party stepped in and he also begain speaking to her very rudely. When I began to speak to her in English he changed his way of speaking to us and let us know that if a party gets up before we order then we can sit at that table. We said that was fine and were sat. My entire party was mexican. Each one of us noticed the color of every person sitting at the front right next to the balcony and it did not match ours. It is very unfortunate to see the racism happening to me and my group and we were all uncomfortable from there on. We were soon able to be sat next to the balcony at the far end with an unappealing view. The manager never said another word to us. The service was amazing and the food was great. On our way out we passed by the manager, Gabriel, and he never once said anything to us to ensure that we were comfortable or apologize for the way he spoke to us. The music was great, the food a bit better than average for San Miguel (which isn’t saying much), the view is spectacular… but the service was rude and careless. Our waiter was serving my friend beside me in front of my face, instead of serving her from behind, (where there was plenty of room) making me feel like i was in the way. I asked him for the beer prices and he instead listed the kinds of beer they had and pointed at the cocktail menu, suggesting i get a cocktail. I asked him for the price of the burrito because I couldn’t find it on the menu and he told me it cost 400 pesos. Which, from what i can see on the photo of the menu uploaded here 3 weeks ago, is way off. He served a beer that we ordered in front of another person and when we asked him about the “missing” beer he got defensive and said he already gave it to us. Hard to beat for the price and the view is one of the best anywhere in town. We eat here or order for delivery fairly often and one thing we can rely on is consistency of product. However, our number one issue is that for some reason they continually forget the salad dressing on the taco salad. We were there just the other night and the dish came to our table without salad dressing on it nor was it delivered on the side, forcing us to ask for it. Not a big deal at the restaurant but this happens frequently when we order for delivery also. It's uncomfortable having to ask them every time not to forget the dressing but if I don't, there's a good chance it won't show and I have to send them back for just the dressing which is also uncomfortable...
