1. Lack of Sensitivity and Accommodation for Muslim Guests As your hotel is situated in Morocco, a predominantly Muslim country, it was with great disappointment that I observed a profound lack of sensitivity towards Muslim guests during my stay. There were no prayer facilities, such as a musallah or a prayer room, within the hotel premises. This oversight is particularly concerning given the importance of such facilities for Muslim guests who need to observe daily prayers. Moreover, I was deeply disturbed by the manner in which alcohol was served. Alcoholic drinks were provided in the same glasses and cups as non-alcoholic beverages, which is unacceptable and offensive to Muslim guests who abstain from alcohol consumption for religious reasons. This practice fails to respect the religious sentiments of Muslim patrons and necessitates an immediate review. Furthermore, the handling of food labeled as "halal" was concerning. For instance, pork products like fried bacon were placed dangerously close to halal food items, such as near live egg cooking stations. This proximity creates a high risk of cross-contamination, which is completely unacceptable. I strongly recommend that your hotel undertake a serious review of these practices, ensuring a complete and clear separation between halal and non-halal food and drink. The implementation of these changes would demonstrate respect for your Muslim guests and adherence to basic standards of religious accommodation. 2. Appalling Hygiene Standards The hygiene standards in the rooms were shockingly inadequate. The most egregious incident occurred at midnight when I found a large cockroach on my pillow while I was asleep. This incident not only caused extreme distress but also raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and sanitation of the room. Despite contacting hotel staff, no cleaning personnel were available at that hour to address the issue, leaving me to handle the situation alone. In addition to this, I encountered cockroaches on two separate occasions near the food during breakfast and dinner service. The presence of these pests in dining areas is a clear violation of basic health and hygiene standards, posing serious risks to the health of your guests. 3. Severe Food Poisoning Incident Regrettably, upon our return to the UK, my entire family suffered a severe bout of food poisoning. This illness included episodes of diarrhoea and vomiting, which we believe were directly caused by the food consumed at your hotel. This incident has not only affected our health but also caused significant discomfort and disruption, further highlighting the serious shortcomings in the quality and safety of food provided at your establishment. 4. Lack of Professionalism and Inadequate Customer Service When I approached the reception staff to discuss the cockroach issue and seek a resolution, I was informed that no senior members of staff were available to address my concerns. This lack of access to senior management during critical situations highlights a significant gap in your hotel’s customer service and management practices. The failure to provide an adequate resolution before our checkout on 14/08/2024 reflects poorly on the professionalism of your establishment.

A friendly hotel that caters to all-inclusive customers. There are many pluses to staying at the location. The sunset is worth the stay and the layout is very friendly for disabled travellers and those with children. Here are some of my thoughts on the services: Themed restaurants are buffet style. The quality is fairly good and the Moroccan restaurant with the low light ambiance, unusual entrance doors and unique deserts was a must. The Asian restaurant was a favourite of my wife but as a person who has food allergies, not all the dishes were labelled. That was a theme in most of the food serving areas. There were two serving times, 7pm and 9pm. Most nights had availability. Use the app to get the best experience. The breakfast area had many pluses. The omelette zone was a favourite with me and my wife loved the pastries and pancakes. The fruit selection was limited although this may have been seasonal. The main opportunity to improve would be with the coffee. There are pick up thermos jugs but it’s not clearly marked and they were often half empty. The quality is questionable and it tasted as if gravy granules had been used instead. Try the coffee machines near the omelette station. Lunch is served in the breakfast area and is usually quite busy. There are plenty of options if you prefer a blander meal or a more local cuisine. Try the panini station for a good snack. The non themed restaurant has a good selection of cuisine but it doesn’t vary that much. We preferred outside but there is limited seating. There was a number of lovely roasted meats, salads and vegetables. Deserts were very good and worth a try. The almond cake was a favourite. The bars are staffed by friendly teams of people. A tip normally helps. They were keen to remember you and were personable. The nuts on the side of the evening bar were a nice touch though a little small on portions. Beer is pilsner style and crushable. Worth bringing your own mug as the cups are deliberately small. The wines are actually quite good and hit the spot. It’s worthwhile knowing that the terrain has some unique weather. It’s generally cloudy in the morning and sunnier after 11. There is a “reserve your sun lounger” culture but that’s Paragraph for the course. I’m not one for the animations team. They seemed a little jaded. The shows in the evening were funny. They did not intend to be. The checking experience wasn’t quite what I expected. There was no ATM on site and I didn’t have any local currency. The bell hop expected a tip (don’t blame him) and I couldn’t as I didn’t have cash. Just a bit awkward and not what I wanted at 11pm. There was no option to take our own bags to the room so it just felt odd. I also had to contact the front desk as they had given us two single beds. This is not the best of Riu locations. Staff at times were a little bit nonplussed by our being there. My personal gripe is around staff just taking your plate when you are at the table and making some of the dining experiences rushed. A small thank you every now and again would help.

This hotel is a missed opportunity. It could have been the best address in Agadir, but small flaws always make you feel that something is missing. I'll start with the rooms, very spacious and offering an amazing view on the Atlantic ocean (if you have a room with the beach view), But you need to put up with the strong mold smell in the room and the aging AC. We booked 5 rooms in my group, only my room had a fully working thermostat. Some rooms could switch the AC on and off but couldn't control the temperature, and, in some rooms, the sensor on the balcony door is faulty and each time you close the door you have to fiddle with it to get the AC to work. The other area where the hotel falls short is the dining experience. They offer an all inclusive package, and while there are 4 restaurants in the hotel, the choice of food is extremely limited. Breakfast and lunch are served in the Tamaris restaurant, which is nicely located at the end of the hotel and facing the beach. The view is nice, but the choice of food is limited. After a couple of days you don't want to eat there because you feel that you've been eating the same things over and over. Another issue with this restaurant is that it has a beer dispenser accessible to everyone, even the younger clients and the way they signal food containing pork, which is very easy to miss as pork and non pork meat are next to each other with only a small pork sign to differentiate. Tamaris is your only option for breakfast and lunch. It also offers snacks in between meals, which is convenient. The other restaurants have their own flaws. For dinner you can choose between the Moroccan, the Asian and the international. I would say that the international is your best option, it's big and offers a variety of food. Grilled fish was my favorite. When we went to the Moroccan and the Asian I was shocked by the minimal quantity of food that was available. All restaurant are buffet. The food is served at the beginning of the service but when something runs out you're out of luck. This way of serving the food makes you feel that you're always racing for the food with the waiters and with other guests. Lastly, I want to cover the pool and amenities. The hotel has 4 very large pools including an indoor pool. And if you prefer the beach, it's only a few steps away, the only caveat is that access to the pool is closed at 6:30 pm while the sun sets at 9 pm in Agadir. Just at the time where you feel like it's the best time to have a dip in the pool that you hear the whistle asking you to leave the pool. While we loved the location and the weather, and while the beach is very nice, I don't think we'll come back to this hotel, we'll surely try the neighboring Sofitel which hopefully won't have these flaws.

A beautiful experience that was completely ruined on the last day.

We stayed as a family of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids) for 7 days and booked 2 rooms. So you can imagine that this was not a cheap trip. However, having stayed at other Rius before, this hotel was up to our expectations. The facilities were great, the hotel is perfectly located on the beach. The food and service is good. The staff were absolutely amazing, especially the animation and kids club who made our kids feel extra welcome. A special thank you to Safa, Fatime Zahra and Ibtisam as well as Sana who delivered food to my room one night I was unwell.

The beds were quite hard which made it difficult to sleep but the overall experience was so good that we were happy to overlook this detail.

On the last day, we were planning to check in into another hotel (appart hotel) for the second week to stay with a bigger group, so we made sure to ask until when we could use the facilities. We were told that the facilities could be used all day, however a supplement would be charged if we wanted to stay in the room or for dinner. So we (2 of the adults) decided to go and check in into the hotel at 3, which is the normal check in time for most hotels, while leaving the kids with one of the adults at the pool to make it easier for us to transfer the luggages and make sure the kids didnt have to wait around. We explained our plan to the reception when getting our luggage and they said there was absolutely no problem and that we could come back to get the rest of our family once we had done the check in in the new hotel.

We were done by 5-5.30pm so we walk in to get the rest of our family and the security guard asks us if we are residents of the hotel. We explain the situation and the fact that we have cleared it twice with reception. He says that because we have done the check out already we are not allowed to stay beyond 3pm. We explain thay we have no interest in staying, we just want to get our kids and go as we have another hotel and a bigger family group waiting for us. He wasn't satisfied somehow but let us go. It felt extremely accusatory at that point.

We therefore go to get our kids (and the other adult), the remaining of our stuff (towels, inflatable crocodile etc) we had quite a lot to carry. Having built a close relationship with the animation team my kids took some time to say bye and hug some of the staff. We also wanted to make sure they went to the bathroom before we left, so we took a good 20 mins. While my daughter was in the bathroom we are approached by the same security guard from the entrance who had followed us and told us: "now that you have your kids, you should leave. I checked with reception and you already checked out". We were obviously very upset and this created a whole scene in front of everybody. Something that was completely unnecessary. We were made to feel like criminals despite having checked with reception twice. It seemed as though were being followed and hounded out. We paid a very high amount for our stay, and the fact that we would be treated this way for potentially an additional 2 hours is absolutely unacceptable. It is clear that there was a miscommunication of the hotel rules between reception and security, but there is a way to treat and to speak to people. We look for Riu hotels and everywhere we have gone the rules are the same, we could use the facilities all day. We complained to reception who confirmed once more we were right and apologised for the inconvenience. Yet on our way out, instead of getting an apology from this security guard, he reiterated these were the rules and that we should make sure to cut our wristbands!

This was an amazing experience that was completely ruined on the last day by the way we were treated. I wonder if we were singled out because we are not white and me being very heavily pregnant, didn't seem to bother him. We were planning on coming back as we have family in Agadir, but after this incident, we will not be coming back and will seriously be considering avoiding...

There is so much to see in Morocco! Agadir has some very interesting history and some killer views, it's based along the coast line and sunny all year round. We decided to come to this hotel in March 2016 for for a family Easter 7 night break. the pictures looked amazing of this newly refurbished hotel and it lived up to the expectations with the scenery, cleanliness, friendliness and food. Arriving with a 5 yr old who has challenging behaviour at times, we were slightly conscientious of the events that could unfold in a foreign country. However, we were massively surprised! Greeted with Moroccan tea by the manager and entertainment team, we felt immediately welcomed, check In was simple and the transfers only about 35 mins. The second language in morroco is French so that's useful to know, and you're best off changing your sterling to dirhems at the hotel, it will be a better rate. We had our bags delivered to the spacious room with a good size Tele, bed and gorgeous bathroom with large shower, mirror and complimentary toiletries with a hairdryer. There was also a patio with a beautiful view of the gardens. The rooms are cleaned daily if your green tag is on the door. The Thompson reps are really helpful and it's a good plan to spare some tips for the waiters, bar staff and entertainment team. They really do earn it with their delightful mannerisms, performances and will do everything they can to accommodate you with those special drinks that might not be on the menu. There is always something to do on the complex and the beach is just a few steps away with a private section for the hotel guests. There's always beds around all the pools for everyone, plenty of toilets and a bar close by with smiles all round from the staff and a huge range of cocktails for adults and kids, Hot and cold drinks. Throughout the day there is kids club for the little ones with two age ranges, the entertainment team entice them with various games, dances, park, dressing up and so much more so the adults can enjoy some freedom daily. They have a small heated pool close to the club and the team make a huge effort to dress up in various outfits such as clowns, animals or traditional Moroccan dress. You will see the very beautiful Ansar, regularly around the pool side in various outfits, promoting the nights entertainment. She is always smiling and fabulous with the kids, gaining their trust and getting to know them throughout the holiday. She takes her to time to speak to each and every guest daily and then performs at night time. Her English and French is spot on, with the performances being captivating. The night time entertainment varies daily with there being different themes and you will find comedy, belly dancers, acrobats and another friendly bar team. To top everything off, the spa is a must do with a large range of treatments at a good price, indoor pool and gym. The food is cooked by Chef Mohammed and he himself is a wonderful man, there's a huge variety across three restaurants, various themes and something beautifully cooked for everyone. The waiters simply can't do enough to make sure you have a great dining experience each night. Our little one took a shine to Ismail who always had a high five for him and special tricks with napkins. You will also find Ansar and the team, demonstrating traditional tagine cooking and sangria at the pool side. In the animation box, there is Tito who is simply fantastic at his job. He made a friend in our son, truly welcomed and understood his behaviour, even going out of his way to teach him new games. We loved it here so much, we came back this year for Easter and we were remembered, it was like being welcomed home and seeing the familiar faces like Tito, Ismail and Ansar just made our family time better. I can't thank the teams here enough for the experiences they have provided us with. We felt safe, relaxed, tanned and have some beautiful photos, courtesy of the hotel photographer. We will be back and it can't some...

This is our first time to Mocrocco and our first time at a Riu hotel. I always write an honest review and feel sometimes people only write when they have had a negative experience. So I will start with the positive points. The hotel is amazing. So clean, plenty to do, and many activities planned and provided. Yes, the pools were cold but we still had fun in them each day. The aqua aerobics and and dances around the pool were so much fun. The staff are super friendly. All the bar, restaurant, reception, cleaners, gardeners, towel staff, etc etc made time to greet us everytime. The entertainment team were full of energy and tried hard to get everyone engaged. They must work do hard to learn all the different dances and routines. Anwal I think he was called spoke to us the most and he was brilliant. There is plenty of variety with the food. Not always hot but lots of choice. As a family of two vegetarians and two meat eaters we always had something yummy to eat. Staff were constantly cleaning away dirty plates and making sure tables were cleared ready for the next guests. The beach is clean and quieter in the mornings. There is always a bar open somewhere in the hotel. All bars open at various times so you are never short of a drink if needed and they do a lovely cuppa tea!!! Many different drinks available including beers, spirits, cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks. As the pool area is so big there is always plenty of areas to sunbathe and we always managed to get a sun lounger for each of us where we wanted. There is a shop on site. Pool tables are additional costing and the receptionist don't always have the right coins for you to change however, there is a lovely man who comes everyday to the tables to ensure people take turns and he has plenty of coins for you to swap. Although the hotel is very big and has many rooms we didn't feel like it was overcrowded anywhere. Beautiful grounds, fountains, bridges, and ponds complete with ducks. Security on doors and gates to the beach, so very safe. We also got 2 bottles of water in our rooms every day. Fridge in rooms too. Magic show was great!

We were still allowed to use all facilities and eat/drink etc however there was only 2 showers available and only 2 small changing rooms which is definitely not enough when 3 flights leaving so late and all transfers after 7pm that day. As a vegetarian I was disappointed to see the staff making the pannis up wear the same gloves after handling the meat snd then msking up the vegetarian option, so I only had this once. We heard someone complaining about ants. We only saw a few around sweet drinks. On our last day we rushed for food before the bus came to collect us. We sat with some friends we met on holiday so sat in a different area of the restaurant. Unfortunately, we found at least 10 ants on this table which reported to our rep on our way out. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends. We have some great memories of...
