If you are a non smoker is not the place for you. Both receptionist smoke in the kitchen and reception area when, there's a roof just nearby. We were at 1st floor, reception at 3rd and the smell was hovering in the air. Loud music at reception and people shouting late night along the stairs. We booked a private room which does not have a private bathroom. Was mold and pee sticking plus sigarette smell so wasn't the most enjoyable atmosphere. There's no air conditioning, not that we needed. The breakfast was included, boiled egg, half baguette, some honey, mangerine, occasionally a fruit, coffe or tea and a small yogurt. That was ok. Unfortunately in the margarine often there was fluff, dust, fibers, black bits and a once ashes. They using cables on the top roof to dry laundry so make sure to give a shake to get rid of dust. Bedding sheets were not the tidiest and shiniest ones, same for pillows, they had spots on them and they were smelling. Although I brought pillow case and cover mattress. Read moreI stayed at this hostel for three weeks, and I really like it. It’s only 80 dirham for a bed, including breakfast, a real bargain. I see the staff cleaning every day, the beds are comfortable, the showers hot and good. |Salman the boss is quite quiet but very helpful, and if there’s any type of problem he quickly rectifiers it. ||Like any hostel or hotel, the quality of the other guests varies. I have read some of the bad reviews on this hostel, and I totally disagree. Often the ones who give bad reviews, are the ones who have never left their mother, and have always had someone else to tidy up after them. Some people kick off their shoes, or finish their drink, or food, put their bags down anywhere and then expects someone else to tidy up after them, but also it’s the best way to lose stuff. Thankfully, the experienced travellers make up for them, and are very quiet at night, and tidy up after themselves, and are respectful of others. |I read that one person said it’s a scam, and Max, who I know, tried to rip him off. That most certainly did not happen, they are totally honest, and the last thing they would do would be to try and rip off a guest, because that would be the end of their business. I imagine that they probably said to the guest to wait until they had some small change to give them, as everyone pays with large notes or cards, and change can be a problem. |Others say they didn’t change the sheets!!! Just ask, because the staff try to avoid touching guests property, which is left on beds. Most travellers, including me, don’t want others touching my bed, and ask when they want the bed changed. |People expect too much, it’s not a 5star hotel. Next time I visit, this hostel will be my first choice. |I hope this review helps my fellow proper travellers, as for others, best you pay for a hotel....
Read moreAs a suggestion to avoid this hostel I will describe how bad my experience was there. I'll start with the rooms. The beds sheets haven't been changed in ages and are kept the same for the successive guests. Beside that, pillows or blankets are missing. The hostel doesn't provide keys, instead there is a lock on the door, whose combination is written on the outside of the door, allowing everyone to free roam at their pleasure in the rooms. This issue is even more serious when combined with the fact that the access to the hostel is granted by just ringing on the bell, and the reception is above the rooms. In short, there is no concrete way they can ensure external people from accessing the rooms.
During my stay in the hostel, I had clothes stolen and witnessed complaints from other guests of personal belongings being taken, and of people getting in rooms they didn't belong to.
Finally, the bathrooms ( two toilets per floor, or around 16 people) are often extremely dirty and lacking maintenance.
Overall, the structure is extremely lacking, dirty and sketchy, and I strongly suggest...
