The host of this hotel spoiled our vacation because she is totally incompetent in Moroccan business. We arrived at this hotel, brought our luggage, gave time to check our marriage certificate, provided all our documents, she took the money, and we also spent a couple of hours before the check-in time. Back at this... hotel (it’s a place where only people who don’t want any comfort can live), we checked in, brought our luggage to the second floor without an elevator! In the late evening, while we were enjoying our dinner, she sent me an email VIA BOOKING, stating that they cannot host us due to this certificate issue.
I can understand Moroccan law; I brought only electronic documents without a stamp, and so on (cause we did electronically, and our documents, in my country, don’t have stamp on it or signature), and all this I told to this unprofessional girl, and moreover I told her to check it with my embassy, but she, because I guess never saw ppl with electronic documents, told me it’s a fake certificate, gosh, ppl so narrow-minded. And we took responsibility for that; we didn’t hide anything, we showed everything beforehand. However, this unprofessional host told us it’s okay, you can stay here. I just can’t understand one thing: you are running a business, tell people that you are an adult, you can do business. But in reality, you make it like in kindergarten. Oh, sorry, I’m the blond-haired little girl in this Arabic world; I can’t do anything; you just need to go.
By the way, she was trying to fix it, suggesting that she found another hotel. And this hotel was OUTSIDE OF MEDINA! GOSH! How incredibly imprudent these people can be.
Regarding the hotel itself, bathrooms need renovation, the shower lacks pressure, the bed is not so comfy, decorations are only in the hall, upstairs is poor. The rooftop is not so good; there are many rooftops with a better view and better furniture. Unclear entrance, like you are entering the diagonal alley (IYKWIM).
I strongly recommend you guys look for another hotel. Another reason to avoid this hotel was that we dealt with a local (with no commission from us) to bring us to the hotel in Medina. The local guy helped us; he brought us to this hotel, and... they refused to give him his commission 😅🤦🏼♀️, although they have an agreement, I guess. Instead of the hotel, we gave this commission to this guy. No problem; we can understand business, and we respect other people's efforts.
All of that, just to be fair enough, is why I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO AVOID THIS HOTEL."
UPD. We used ur bed and we used the bathroom, once we entered the room, otherwise we would just took our luggage, instead of packing it while u was staying there, and watching how we are changing our clothes (she told us the door must be open, so u had to pack luggage, change the clothes under her watching u 😡). So yeah, this is also one more, be aware, while u are there, they can ask u to keep...

El Qdima is by far the best hotel to stay in the medina however it does not consist of a rating that it deserves for the quality of service offered by current owners during the last year. In turn, I insist you to disregard manifold of the ratings written earlier. We came as two different families on holiday together and this hotel offered welcoming, warm hosts, who have fantastic recommendations for food and plenty more as well; a nearby vicinity, for minute tasks such as having a excellent hangout and near fabulous restaurants, for foods like lobster, octopus, sardines, oysters, local’s soup and get the opportunity to purchase seafood (mainly fish) from the market. Personally, I have chosen to highlight the cheerful, caring owners for guiding us around this unfamiliar, unusual, unique region, which we were visiting for our first time. Lokman and Teresa passionately assisted us for any arousing assistance that was required as well as ones that would benefit us, making our stay much less stressful so in this spirit I would like to thank Lokman and Teresa dearly. The location is wonderful making access to anywhere in the whole medina in a brisk walk of an under a stable amount of five minutes. Featuring this made it a seconds decision whether to travel back to the hotel for any miniature task. Only warning is that there is a night club inside the medina who radiates sound till approximately 2:00AM in the morning, however I urge you to consider that this noise would be heard from any place in the medina as well as the nearby area so to not hear it you would have to live in a hotel not even vaguely nearby the medina. Coming to Essaouira in Morocco, one of the dominant features we explored is food. Ranging from traditional, coastal, Moroccan soups to having lavish, scrumptious seafood, making the possibilities endless. The managers and staff gladly point and guide you to food that appetites you. Buying fish and seafood from the market and bring it back for someone to make it into a tremendous tagine; grill the rest of the seafood to allow it to have a smoky sensation inside the tips of your tongue. Tantalising my tongue with the saltiness of the oysters and a meaty feeling that hit my tastebuds from a glimpse of sea urchins. Digging into lobster, which was my first time eating it, was a moment that my tongue savoured. Overall, the memories and experience is commended majorly because of the wonderful time that the hotel staff offered to me. Everything above are the reasons that I recommend that if you are travelling to Essaouira, to make this hotel the...
Read moreTraumatic experience. I’ll try and be short, I was with two friends of mine and we had three rooms (one on each floor). First of all, hygiene seems to be an optional here, no room service, dirty floors, dust is all around the place. A thick layer of MOLD covers the entire bathroom surface and a strong, unbearable smell of humidity penetrates your nose throughout the whole hotel. I had to literally FLEE from room number 1 on the first floor and seek refuge at one of my friends room after the first night for the unacceptable hygienic conditions and the humidity which was so bad it sticked to my clothes through the suitcase. When I first got into room, I lifted the sheets of my bed and found someone’s hair and three red, unidentified stains on the pillowcases. One of my friends has long hair and after two nights sleeping inside what we now call Alkatraz prison her hair stinked like a fishermans boat. Now we get to the terrace, which is furnished with 3 horrible, ancient, dirty, moldy and crashed armchairs that I think could be dated back to world war I and the floor is stained by some unidentified substance. Cherry on top, the hostel does not grant guests the possibility to get in after 2 am. While doing our check in the manager gave us a sheet of paper with some instruction and it was clearly stated that in order to get inside the hotel after 2 am we needed to preventively inform the staff. We tried to do it on the second day and we were told that, in fact, we wouldn’t be allowed inside after 2 am. I suggested that providing the keys to the front door would have been a smart way to grant guests the chance to get back to their prison cells at whatever time they felt like but I was told they feared that non-paying people may be coming along and squat their majestic properties. I’d like to have the money and the time I spent on that haunted mansion. I would like to give this place a -100 score but it is not formally possible so take this as my final mark: DO NOT...
