I arrived for dinner quite early (18.45) and was the only diner. The welcome was warm and the menu was easily understood. They don’t serve alcohol but I don’t mind that when in a Muslim country. I was brought some lovely open-textured bread, some very nice olives and a hot dip, also very good. I ordered the avocado crabmeat starter, which featured an enormous whole king prawn as garnish. A good sized portion, quite suitable to share if you wish. Then I went off-piste with a whole lobster from the daily specials menu @ 70DRM per 100g my huge lobster came to 332DRM which was easily three times the price of an average main from the menu. But it was EPIC !!! I followed this with a delightful lemon creme brûlée. To drink I had a large bottle of very sweet and bubbly spring water. All told I spent around €40. Which is by no means the cheapest meal I’ve had in Morocco. But by European standards it represented amazing value. The ambiance is very calm and European style. The service is super friendly. And they are happy to take card payments. As I’m in town for a month, I’ll...
Read moreWe went here for the second time... First time we came in trough the music that was playing, rockmusick... the place is huge. Not as cosy als a lot of restaurants in the neighbourghood but very clean and surprisingly exellent food. First time we came in for the music, ate a soup, it was great, so we ordered some appetisers, they were great, so we ordered a meal to, it was super so we ended ordering a dessert.. So we came again today. We ordered, and i especially ordered very clear a big portion cause i knew the portions were not my size from the previous time. The food came, it was delicious... But my portion was only 3 spoons big so i went to the counter and said i asked for a big portion, the waiter said it was big, we had a talk about that and he fixed it very elegantly with giving me the same dish again, free of charge. As good as the first one. So i can only say... great food, great service... good music. And they serve you very quickly... youre not gonne...
Read moreThe words "gluten free" are not often seen in Morocco, but the dining choices seem to be better in Essaouira than in most other towns. We gladly tried out this cozy restaurant after weeks of tajin and brochettes. I was pleasantly surprised that the chef whipped up a gluten-free bread which was delivered hot to the table with various spreadable items (the goat cheese with honey was my favourite). I ordered the gluten-free pasta with seafood (shrimp, calamari, and salmon) and vegetables (brocolli, brussel sprouts, I love brussel sprouts), which turned out to be a bigger portion than some of the other non-GF choices. My dining partner had the monkfish and liked it a lot. Generally, the menu choices all look very appealing. I would recommend this place to anyone, and especially to GF people looking for some relief from a heavily wheat-biased...
