Our stay at the Palm Plaza Hotel in Marrakech was far from what you'd expect from a 5-star establishment. There were multiple areas where the hotel failed to meet even basic expectations, and unfortunately, we left quite disappointed.
To begin with, the restaurant service was unprofessional. We witnessed servers having verbal arguments in front of guests, right in the middle of the dining area — a clear sign of poor management and lack of training. In a hotel of this supposed caliber, staff should remain calm, respectful, and attentive in front of clients.
Another noticeable issue was how international guests received preferential treatment, while local Moroccan travelers were largely ignored or served slowly. Given that the majority of the clientele appeared to be local, this kind of discriminatory service is not only disappointing, it raises serious concerns about the hotel’s values and customer service strategy.
The hygiene standards in the restaurant were also lacking. Coffee mugs, plates, and cutlery were often not fully clean — we had to sort through several items just to find a usable one. This is simply not acceptable in any hotel, let alone a 5-star.
Food was repetitive and of mediocre quality, with an unusual taste — at times it felt like soda had been used in the cooking process. Outside of the buffet, it also took a long time for servers to respond unless you were ordering a paid extra.
As for the rooms, while they were cleaned daily, towels were not always fresh, and bathroom products like shampoo were not restocked in a sufficient amount unless requested — and having to ask for them every day became quite frustrating.
The pool area also had its problems. It was enjoyable in the morning but became dirty by midday. What’s worse, parts of the pool floor were damaged, and sharp edges from broken tiles posed a risk of injury. At night, the area was poorly lit, making it uncomfortable for a peaceful evening with family.
To make matters worse, there were often not enough sunbathing chairs or parasols available. When we asked the staff about this, they simply replied that “this is all we have.” Again, not what you'd expect from a hotel claiming to provide luxury.
During the day, the entertainment team hosted events around the pool, but sadly, their efforts lacked energy and creativity. Their activities were repetitive, impersonal, and not inviting enough to engage guests. It felt like they were just going through the motions rather than creating a fun or welcoming atmosphere.
Most surprising of all was seeing the hotel director present at the restaurant on several occasions, yet staff behavior remained inattentive and chaotic. This points to a much deeper issue with leadership and hotel management.
Overall, Palm Plaza Hotel does not deliver the experience it promises. From poor hygiene and subpar food to inconsistent service and weak entertainment, it simply does not live up to a 5-star standard. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning and cannot recommend it to others.
Before we end our comment we would like to thank miss nadine from the guest relations team who has been a great listener to us during our stay. We thank you and...

Read moreBeautiful hotel with an amazing lobby, with plenty of seating areas. Beautiful pool area, large room, excellent free WiFi with Netflix. |A free safe in the room which is handy and free bottle of water everyday. Not far from the market, airport and a shopping mall, few restaurants close by. KFC never seem to have credit card machine |Option only cash. The airport is close by hence a little noisy. They also have a beautiful indoor jacuzzi swimming pool, but costs extra 15 Dirhams to use, which I find unusual considering it’s a 5 star hotel. |There is a night club called Dandana Cabaret Marrkech right on the grounds of the hotel, depending on the location of your room, my room was first floor at the front of the hotel entrance, it can get really noisy at night from 11pm to 3.30am, very loud music, I was quite annoyed as it kept me up most nights. I would ask for a pool view back room if you want a good night sleep. |We only booked Bed and Breakfast as prefer to eat out, due to previous all inclusive disappointments. I found the hot breakfast very unhealthy, omelettes were greasy, they use a lot of oil, some kind of paratha, most foods was immersed in a lot of oil. |My opinion I didn’t like the breakfast, they should try and grill hot breakfast items instead. Only healthy options were the fruit yoghurt and cereals. |Eating out in the evenings, everyone’s taste is different but I found the food to be very bland not a lot of seasoning, a lot of meat dishes, not good if you’re a vegetarian. I tried vegetarian pizza, the cheese was also very bland I prefer mature cheese. For me it was difficult to find a dish I actually liked to eat. |We booked a tour to a Dinner Show in Agafay Desert with Quad Bike & Camels, it cost £27 each, on Trip advisor. It’s more expensive if you book with Jet2. Plenty of deals on line. We enjoyed most part of the tour, they take you to a shop to possibly purchase oils creams etc, how they are made. I found them to be too pricy. Next we go onto a camel ride, hold on tightly it can be a wobbly ride. I loved the quad bikes, that was the best part for me. Followed by dinner and show, dinner was okay not to my taste, soup with bread, followed by a chicken Tagine, couscous, followed by cake and tea. The entertainment was a little annoying for me, four guys go around singing a song with tiny drums and a hat they put on each person to dance. Then there is a fire performer who is amazing, very talented. |We got back quite late around 10pm, were out all day for at least 6 hours.||Taxi to the market usually costs 50 dirhams, usually found parked outside hotel. I found the market to be bit overwhelming, so many stalls, people, so much going on. Most stalls are selling the same items, with different prices, haggling is a must, drop the prices down to half. |To be on the safe side I would suggest to go to the market around 3pm and come back before it gets dark, the later it gets the more...
