The restaurant needs some help. For the price I expected a bit more in service and better food quality. Pizza oven needs a serious ventilation overhaul.. your pizzas bask in toxic fumes and the restaurant is overtaken by the noxious smoke as the oven isn't properly vented to outgas through the overhead vent.
Looks like it's set up correctly, but doesn't function well. Possibly a recent blockage in the flue that the local staff, managers and owners are clueless to??
Have to admit the expectation bar was set high by the 'grapevine' hearsay so it was easy to be disappointed.
The ambiance was nice and the products in the store looked appealing (the icecream was good).
I had a burger (advertised with mozzarella, served with something closer to cheddar - also ok actually). Mustard is sweet (ok), catchup is horrendous (or mis-interpreted), beef and serving size ample (coulda had a bit more potatoes, but ok), potatoe wedges luke warm and fairly bland (as was the burger taste). Burger coulda used some more tasty fat ground into it for flavor and generally juicer texture, but that's probably more of a personal preference.
Overall, on the surface (to the eyes) the experience would look nice in fb posts, but to the palate and nose there we're too...
Read moreI would say Sharky’s was my best experience of Italian Cuisine in Myanmar. Thought it is far more expensive than a good local restaurant, you would yourself wanting to go there more and more.
Two branches of Sharky’s are in Yangon, as far as I know, the one in Dhammazedi and the other in Pansodan. While the former has a big shop in it’s first floor and the restaurant in the second, the latter has one floor with items to sell aside the restaurant.
Though Dhammazedi branch is more favorable to the ones who are looking for a nice after-work corner, Pansodan has its fans too. However I prefer Dhammazedi’s ambience and environment better.
The menu is complete and diverse. The starters, the main course, deserts and drinks are all well-prepared and delicious. I’d say it could please all tastes. The pizza was family size but quite light and ok. The lasagna was a real thing but obviously heavy and a bit greasy. The ginger juice was absolutely nice so was the bear of course.
No need to say that Sharky’s is an expensive restaurant, but it’s worth trying and I’m sure you’ll love...
Read moreHad breakfast here after a short hike from seeing the sunrise at Shwedagon Pagoda. Based on the reviews we were expecting a great experience however, perhaps the breakfast offerings are not what this place is famous for. The food is relatively standard fare westernized breakfast you'd find in most similar styled cafes. However, the prices are higher than other cafes. The staff was not that attentive. Water refills were not automatic and we have to ask for many things. We also asked for the AC to be turned on because it was quite warm in there but they did not honor the request. Instead, they pointed a tower fan at us that doesn't even turn on. Further requests did not seem to help. There were quite a few staff walking around and we were the only table so the service level and attentiveness of staff definitely wasn't good. Lastly, the smoke salmon bagel's salmon had a off taste that felt like its about to spoil. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I hope dinner service is...
