I got myself a deluxe room on a high floor so my experience might be different from others. There was also no construction when I was there. My room is huge (and ceiling high), the television is so far away (8-10m) from my bed I have problem seeing the details. In contrast my hotel room in the city centre was so small that the TV is mounted like 80cm from the bed and they have to put it near the ceiling to increase the distance. The rooms are very well furnished (best value for money IMHO) and bigger than the family room that I had booked at the nearby Crystal Palace Hotel. It is a modern hotel with card entry. If you stay at the hotel you get a 20% discount at the Spa and the ONLY treatment I would recommend is the traditional massage at 10,000 kyat before discount. The Monalisa Restaurant (Level 1) is actually excellent and reasonably priced that I ended having dinner there every night. The breakfast is not excellent but quite good. There is actually an omelette counter so you can have you eggs done in any way but I did not see any eggs swimming in grease.||While the Wifi is not great, the signal is relatively strong and it is actually better than most hotels in Myanmar. Internet speed is not fast in the whole country and may break off.||Having stayed at various locations in Yangon, I can say this hotel is very centrally located. You can walk to visit Chauk Htat Gyi and Nga Htat Gyi Pagodas and be back within 2 hours without rushing. Shwedagon is also within walking distance.Downtown and Kandawgyi Lake are also not far away. ||The best thing about this hotel is the hot water. You get very hot water very fast, better than some 5 star hotels.||Try not to venture to the basement as it is a "Love Tunnel" mostly for the local businessmen. The hotel staff is helpful, friendly and professional. Highly recommended, it is unbeatable at the price I paid. The only negative about this hotel is that there are no shops, shopping centres or amenities nearby. There is a diesel generator planted at the entrance of the hotel so any electrical outages...
Read moreIt has been almost a year since I last stayed in this hotel and I must say that instead of improving, this time it was slightly worse that the last time I was here. Firstly, the construction is still on going and the hammering begins as early as 7am everyday I was there (inclusive of Sundays). Secondly, at the lobby, I saw a big banner that says "Fast Wifi" of which I thought to myself that I would not faced the problems that I faced last year. BUT to my huge dismay, their so-called "Fast Wifi" is laughable, its "fast" when you are out of the room standing very near to the transmitter. Otherwise, I was unable to access the Internet 8 out of 10 times when I was in the room. Fast Wifi? - Yes! if you are standing outside the room but definitely not in the room. The other thing that put me off was that the room had lots of ants that keeps coming back despite "room service".||||This time around, I was put in a different type of room (compare my pictures of this and last year). This room looks and feels older and was much smaller that I knocked into the furniture a couple of times. And becareful, all their furniture are of sharp edges and if you knocked them, you will be in great pain (like me!). Lastly, the noise from the KTV is still as loud as ever after 9pm everyday.||||If you just need a safe, comfortable place to stay and not hang in the room for too long, this is the place. Otherwise, if you plan to stay in the room to work, good luck! There is...
Read moreI stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. At the recommendation of my local counterpart, I stayed. As mentioned by other reviewers, the rooms are refurbished so it looks pretty modern. The room and the bathroom was clean and adequately provided as with most hotels would.||||Good points:||||1. Clean room||2. Friendly staff||||However, some drawbacks:||||1. I stayed at the end of the corridor on the 4th floor and there are 2 pertinent issues.||||- the phone keeps ringing at the employee's quarters at the end of the corridor (I assume that other guests are calling for room service). It does ring a lot and if its a night time, it can be quite annoying.||- without fail after 10pm every night, there were loud music being heard. I believe it is from the KTV 2 floors down.||||2. Some hotel employees cannot commute in English well but they really try to please you (so its not really a drawback)||||3. The WIFI provided is pretty bad. At times, I get it, other times I dont get a reception at all and even if I do, it wouldnt load anything at all.||||4. Construction next door which starts as early as 7am inclusive Sundays!||||5. Room...
