If your are in Walvisbay and need a place to sleep overnight the Kleines Nest will do. Its got a great location across the road from the lagoon and all the basic amenities one needs for a overnight stay. They have secure parking several rooms upstairs. The rooms are large enough and then one I stayed in had two single beds in it. I would have liked an additional electrical wall plug closer to the head of the bed (as I need to plug in my CPAP machine) but unfortunately I had to turn the sleeping arrangement around so that the free wall plug could be reached whilst i slept. It worked out okay in the end. The rooms are clean and its windows looked out over the lagoon where the bird life such as herons and flamingos abounded. They ensuite bathroom was also okay with a shower (that worked well) and a basin and a toilet in it. The toilet (in my opinion) was installed in the wrong direction and should have been turned by 90 degrees before it was permanently installed. In the morning the breakfast is okay and tasty. but it is all laid out before hand and one just goes to the dinning room and helps oneself. One thing that could be an issue is that the bed and breakfast building also houses a civil and structural engineering company whose offices are just adjacent to the open plan breakfast nook. the place has WiFi and secure nightime parking for ones vehicle Overall its fine if one is just seeking an overnight stay - over. It's a bed and breakfast establishment so don't expect much...
Read moreKleines nes Nest, is excellently located on the esplanade, in walking distance form the waterfront attractions- boat trips, kite surfing and restaurants.||A double story building - fmaily below guests and business above them.||Great WIFI connection, clean neat rooms, parking.||Bland un-inspired breakfasts- continental only.||Good for one night lay over. Lots of potential.||And sadly thats where it ends.||||No warmth. The prime business at this location is a civil engineering business, somehow mixed up amongst the rooms on the guest level above the family dwelling. Office workers start arriving just before eight and walk right through the breakfast room to get to their offices! ||The squat modernistic square construction tries to max out m² of the erf and there is no architecture. It is an office block with 4 guest rooms.||Having come off one international flight into Cape Town, I called ahead before boarding for Walvis Bay to ask Melani if they could press my shirt and trousers in time for my meetings next day. I was sorry I asked, the answer was so reluctant.||Her husband opened up at 15hoo for me, no welcome, no introduction. I was never welcomed at all. I did speak to Melani - always n her car going somewhere. but no warmth, no welcome.||So lovely venue but no...
Read moreWell I pondered on how to score this guest house. With a bit of effort it could improve easily.|The rooms are big and comfortable. Tv service was surprisingly good as was the broadband. |Breakfast was a bit of a horror show. Poor quality coffee. Cereal ran out so choice was very limited. The cooked stuff was horrid. Bacon undercooked, cheesy rolls overcooked, you get the theme. Eventually after a couple of mornings we had retreated to tea and toast. |This is where we noticed a few hygiene issues first. Yogurt and cold meats left out of the fridge for hours then put back day after day. Cooked sausage appeared multiple days! I witnessed the cleaner wiping multiple surfaces with the same cloth. Look close in the rooms especially the bathroom it was nt that clean. Did some DIY here. |Unfortunately all 3 of us ended up with jelly belly and for me that was a first anywhere in the world. I wouldn't choose to stay here again due to small but necessary improvements required. I did rate it as average as we cannot be 100% sure our illness came from here. However as we all came down on different days and it was the Common link. Its setting is good right on the lagoon. Too many positives to say...
