On 1 November 2025, we visited Anchors Restaurant in Walvis Bay, having made a reservation under the name Kevin Silva, and unfortunately experienced one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a display of disrespect, disorganization, and poor service.
From the very beginning, the service was chaotic. We waited over one hour just for the starters, and around thirty minutes for a simple seafood soup. The restaurant was not full, and there were more than ten staff members visible — making such delays completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, one of the seafood platters we ordered never arrived, yet it was included in the final bill as if it had been served. This is a sign of poor management and blatant disregard for customers.
Trying to end the evening on a positive note, we ordered a Don Pedro, expecting a simple classic dessert. What we received, however, was a poorly made drink, containing leftover red fruits and hard black particles at the bottom — completely unappetizing and far from the standard expected from a reputable establishment. When we questioned the manager, she appeared surprised and uneasy, claiming she would sort it out — but nothing was done.
It leaves us wondering: Was this series of failures and negligence a mere coincidence, or was it a form of retaliation for our earlier complaint about the long waiting times? Whatever the reason, the outcome was a disgraceful dining experience that tarnishes both the restaurant’s name and the image of local hospitality in Walvis Bay.
We wish to publicly express our deep disappointment and indignation at Anchors Restaurant for the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect shown to paying customers. A place with such a prime location and reputation should hold itself to much higher standards instead of delivering such embarrassing and careless service.
We sincerely hope this public statement serves as an alert and a call for reflection — so that no other guest will have to endure the same level of neglect and frustration we...
Read moreAnchors Waterfront Restaurant offers a lovely setting with a beautiful view of the Walvis Bay waterfront, perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner while enjoying the sea breeze. The atmosphere is vibrant yet calm, and the restaurant has great potential to deliver a truly enjoyable dining experience.
The food was undeniably good, well-prepared, and full of flavour. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of expectations. I had called earlier in the day to make a reservation for a specific time and preferred seating area. However, upon arrival, the staff could not find our booking, and we had to wait several minutes before being seated at a table that was not among our preferences.
The most disappointing part came at the end of the meal. We requested takeaways for the remaining food, only to be told later that another customer had mistakenly taken our food, and we were still expected to pay the full bill. This left a rather sour impression after what could have been a pleasant dining experience.
Overall, the food and atmosphere were commendable, but the poor service and lack of accountability from the staff significantly reduced the enjoyment of the visit. With better service management and attention to customer reservations, Anchors Waterfront could easily move from average...
Read moreWanted some local food instead of yet another meal on the cruise ship, and read about this place, which was about a kilometer from where our ship was docked. A little challenging to find, but thoroughly enjoyed my meal of three types of local fish and some chips, backed up with a wonderful Namibian beer (Windhoek). Service was slow, which was a little bit of a bummer because I was literally one of three people at the restaurant, but I wasn’t in a particular hurry. Of the three fish, described as Hake, Kabeljou, and Kingklip. I liked the Kingklip best, with its firm but still flakey texture and ever so slightly sweet taste. The fish was fried, but only lightly, which I really appreciated. It was well seasoned, but not over seasoned. The chips (fries) were hot and fresh. Worth a try if you are on board a ship docked in the area, and there is even a small market with some stalls if you are looking to buy some souvenirs, which I did.
Towards the end of my meal, they began to set up for a rather large group, and did not have room for anyone else coming to dine, since they only left a few tables outside, with everything else spoken for by the large group, apparently, which I thought was a bit odd, but perhaps they wanted ALL the tables to be vacant for when the large...
