Terrible service, decent food.

I have never experienced such a rude waitress ever! It started when we sat down and tried to order cocktails, she simply told us “no cocktails” and tried to walk away without offering us a chance to order something different. Whatever food we tried to order we were told there was no stock. No mince, no crab claws, and no tuna… Our drinks and food was slammed down on the table and various snarky off-hand comments were made. The highlight of our terrible service was when the waitress asked us for a cash tip instead of us tipping her together with the bill via card, because she did not want to share her tip with any of the waitresses in the restaurant. Her insistence for a cash tip did not stop when we told her that we did not have any cash on hand. The food that we ate was decent and made the whole experience slightly more pleasurable. We are visitors from South Africa doing a road trip through Namibia and locals recommend The Raft to us for dinner. Out of all the towns and restaurants we have visited on our holiday so far this has been the most disappointing experience. I would like to talk to the owner about this waitress’s attitude as this brings a bad name to the restaurant and Walvis Bay as whole for tourists. In my opinion I think that The Raft is a decent restaurant with good food and friendly service, but this one waitress really spoiled our entire experience and has resulted in us never returning or recommending the restaurant to...

Worst experience ever!

Last night my patner and I went out dinning at the Raft, there was a waitress in the bar, we greeted her and was waiting for her to welcome us or something, we were even surprised to see how empty the restaurant was and yet no one could receive us, we went and sat waited until someone come take our order, I ordered oysters for a starter and they came in a clean white plate no ice just a 1 small piece of lemon I also ordered a bottle of white wine it was just dumped at the table and not opened, my patner had to open it, the waiter doesn't know his menu we asked for our meals to come with veggies and we were told that for veggies they only have green peppers and onions, immediately after eating the bill was dumped at our table and at the same time the lights were being switched off with our plates still on the table,we had to pay immediately and leave the restaurant while the employees were still at the bar having drinks, worse experience ever and definitely not going back there...It's a very beutiful place with the view, but the employees are busy breaking that...

We ate here two days during our visit to the area. It is in walking distance to the Marriott Portea hotel. Built over the water with lots of seating with great views. It was cooler the days we went, so avoid the door draft when selecting a table. We were chilly both times with the first more so due to table location.

Service was okay. Slow in some ways but okay. We had to ask for the check both times. That may be a cultural standard, but we didn't know. The calamari starter was delicious and tender. My friend liked the fish trio. We didn't have drinks or dessert.

An observation - they handled a group of 20 French speakers well. Took orders, got wine out, followed by food in what was a reasonable time. Well executed. Hats off to the servers and staff. I believe the group made a reservation as tables were nicely set when we arrived.

A measure of a place is would you return? We did. Special appreciation to the staff on their handling of a neighborhood incident that left lights out. They found candles and worked to make us comfortable. We finished our meal in a fine candlelit...

Wonderful spot with the most amazing view. Service on the slow side but generally this is quiet town so when in a big group orders are a challenge. The food is really good, need to work a bit more on cocktails but the general vibe is definitely a good one and a must do in Walvis Bay.

Food is great. Fresh Walvis Bay Oysters with white wines are the best! I had “Ladies seafood platters” which have tendered calamari (the best), grilled Tiger prawn, grilled hake, gratinated oysters served with rice. Nice atmosphere but the waiters are a bit in a rush.

Wonderful 'jetty restaurant' location, with superb ocean views. Really efficient & friendly service. Absolutely loved the delicious 500g Ribs with baked potato, accompanied by a well known Stellenbosch Merlot. Furthermore, they stock an excellent selection of SA wines.
