I stayed at nHow Amsterdam RAI hotel from 1st to 5th April 2023 and I must say that this was really my best hotel experience ever.
Positive experience with this hotel started from my reservation. I accidentally booked wrong type of room and hotel staff with the help of customers service from booking.com changed my reservation with no problem and no additional payments.
Hotel welcomes you with pleasant and relaxing atmosphere - chill music on the background, free candies as a welcoming gesture for everyone and small, but well-designed lobby in pink tones, which gives you a very warm welcome from the first moment you enter. After very long and hard road, arriving there and seeing your friendly smiling stuff at the reception desks, talking with them while checking in was like a breath of fresh air to me.
As an architect I adore exterior of the building, designed by one of my favourite bureaus OMA and I loved how building is designed inside as well. I booked Premium room with bath and view and that room was perfect for me. Room was located at 19th floor, so view was truly amazing, and I was lucky to catch morning sunrises everyday from the bed, which I adore. Bathtub inside the room was really big even for me, and I’m a tall girl haha 😅 (I have 176 cm height) and I could just lay there for hours and enjoy the view from the window. Bed was amazing too - extra big, extra comfortable and I just felt like I didn’t want to leave it 😅 I couldn’t remember when I slept that well.
Also room have pretty big wardrobe, classic bathroom with rain-head shower, big TV, kitchen corner with electric kettle, coffeemaker, mini-fridge, coffee capsules, tea, sugar and water included. A little work area with chair, table and nice plant on it. Bathrobe and slippers are also available in the room. Via wi-fi you can connect to the hotel website, login to your room reservation and order some extras if needed (most of them included in your booking price, but if not there’s an information about it), also you can order food to you room via that website app or phone, which is available in the room too; or you can connect with staff, if you’re having any problem in the room. Room cleaning is provided by request - you need to put label on your door and notify about it and if you don’t want any cleaning at all during your stay, you can also put a green label on your door and get one free drink at the bar as a bonus.
There’s no 13th floor in hotel, you can find 12+1 floor only, which is very nice, because as a lot of people I hate that number 😄
Hotel offers you restaurant at the 17th floor with a great view from terrace, gym, little shop at the ground floor, laundry services and luggage storage before check-in and after checkout. Reception desks are available at ground and first floor also. Also you can checkout fast and contactless using same app.
Staff is very nice and helpful too - always, when I was talking with them, I never felt like I was not welcomed, which happens in most hotels.
And, of course, location is very good too - in the area nearby you can find grocery stores, pharmacies, a lot of shops and some places to eat. Nearest metro stations are Europaplein and RAI, also you can find a few tram and bus stops, which is perfect for getting to the city centre, Airport and any Bus or Railway station in the Amsterdam.
I stayed there for 4 nights, but I can assure that hotel is perfect as for short-term stays and for longer ones. You feel yourself like home there and you can live there for months 😅
In my hotel reviews I always leave some things, that could be better, but here I couldn’t find anything. You’re perfect, thank you so, so much for this experience, I definitely come back to you when I’ll be in Amsterdam again 💓 And I hope that 1919 room will be...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay and it is a very imposing building, with a brand new restaurant on the top floor.
I ate there on my last night and that was definitely the peak of the experience, cannot speak highly about the restaurant and the staff. They get 10/10.
The breakfast is very good with a lot of options. Just not quite as good as the main restaurant upstairs but still a good 9/10.
As for the hotel, I was in Amsterdam for ADE with a show at the RAI and it is the best hotel for the show in terms of location, but this is where the issues arose and why the service is not higher. If It were not for the excellent staff member at reception who argued my case, the service would be a 2!
We arrived back from the show at RAI on Saturday evening at 10:20pm and phoned for room service at 10:33pm, to be told that room service had stopped at 10:30. Even when the room service doesn't end until 11 according to the information provided at check in. I had to go downstairs to reception to force the issue, where the kitchen still refused to make the ravioli, but would make burgers, which arrived in hotel designed take away containers.
When you are paying over 225 euros per night, you do not expect the kitchen to close 30 minutes earlier than stated time on a Saturday night. For this kind of money, they should be happy to make orders a few minutes late, not say no to orders 30 minutes before the alloted time.
So if management reads my comments, I think your kitchen staff need to be reinformed of the room service hours of service and/or update the documented information to say it closes at 10:30, not 11, whichever is the case. It was a shame after the rest of the experience being what is expected from a top notch hotel, this moment was not.
I do understand the mark up for ADE, but even so I did find 225 euro a night a bit high for this hotel. I felt 170-190 a night would have been where I would have priced it, excluding meals. So did feel it was a steep price to pay for stay, especially when you are a 20 euro Bolt/Uber ride from city centre.
Although I liked the size of the room and the decor, I did find the bathroom fittings and tiles quite basic for a room of this price. Especially when I compare like for like in other hotels of this price range. Liked the fittings in the room itself and an extra large super king bed was great. So for the room it is an 8 or 8.5/10, the bathroom lowering it from what would have been a 9
Had a small bottle of water restocked on a daily basis which was appreciated.
In terms of cleaning the hotel, it was spotless so they get 10/10 for that as well.
Overall 8/10 (without the room service incident it would have been a 9.)
Staff Friendliness 10/10 Bedroom 9.5/10 Bathroom 7/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Breakfast 9/10 Restaurant 10*/10 Room Service 5/10 Value 6/10 Ease of Accessing City Centre 7/10 Access to Schipol 9/10 Access...

During our stay at this hotel, we faced multiple issues that seriously affected our experience. I strongly urge anyone considering staying here to read this review carefully.
Room Issues and Inconsistency: Before our arrival, I specifically requested a quiet room on the 21st floor. However, when we checked in, we were given a room directly facing a noisy construction site. We asked for a room change — they initially agreed, but later tried to move us to a lower floor. After a lot of insistence and back-and-forth discussions, we were finally given another room on the 21st floor, this time facing the quieter side of the building. It was incredibly frustrating to deal with such disorganization for a simple room request.
TV and Air Conditioning Problems: We checked in on July 18th. Today is July 22nd, and the TV in our room has still not been fixed. Several staff members came to check it, and we were told a technician would come — yet no one has shown up. The air conditioning is another major issue: it overcools the room excessively, and there’s no way to turn it off or adjust the temperature. The heating function seems completely disabled. We reported this several times and were told, “There’s no setting for that.” As a result, we became ill during our stay.
Discrimination at the Rooftop Restaurant: At the rooftop bar on the 24th floor, we wanted to sit by the window. The waiter refused, saying the table was for four people. We asked, “Is someone coming?” and he said, “No.” However, just behind us, two women were sitting comfortably at a four-person table. This left us with a very unpleasant impression of discriminatory treatment — particularly toward Turkish guests.
Zero Apology, Zero Compensation: Despite all these issues, the hotel management never offered any apology, explanation, or attempt at compensation. For a hotel that presents itself as modern and high-end, the lack of customer service and accountability is truly unacceptable.

Conclusion:
nhow Amsterdam RAI may look appealing from the outside, but behind the flashy design lies a disappointing reality of negligence, mismanagement, and indifference. I will never stay here again — and I do not recommend it to anyone.
