The inflexibility of hotel management.... Due to extenuating circumstances, we wanted to change the dates of our stay to a later date as my husband fell seriously ill, but they were unable to assist in this regard. In order to not lose the money paid in advance we ended up traveling without him over Christmas. Upon arrival, nothing of our room looked like the photos illustrated on their site... Total misrepresentation. ||There is no elevator with a very steep staircase to take your luggage up to the room- I felt sorry for those on the higher floors. Bathroom could do with a refresh, some lights in the shower did not work. There was heating in the floor of the bathroom but because the thermostat was not working it was unbearably hot most times, not so much to walk on but the heat rising up from it, it got even worst after a shower. The drains in both the shower and the sink was also clogging with every use. ||Below the hotel is their bar/restaurant, which not only serves guest but the general public as well. It was uncomfortably annoying to get some sleep especially being on the first floor, with the noise coming from both patrons in the bar and the adjoining ones until 5/6am on most nights we were there. The only thing that saves this place is the friendliness of the staff & the location.... It is well placed within walking distance to the center for shops &...
Read moreGreat Introductory meeting, given plenty of advice on how best to travel to and from the hotel, points of interest and a city map. Toon Hotel is run by a fantastic team of friendly, helpful and efficient staff who could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. The food served in their bistro below was top quality and freshly prepared with varied options suiting the most fussy veggies or meateaters - each dish very tasty!
Rooms were basic chic but well appointed, with a dressing table, wardrobe, heating, fridge (free mini bar!) piping hot power showers in perfectly proportioned wetrooms. One of our rooms had two showers. Bedrooms require are bodied access only as the stairwell to each room is steep and narrow.
Complementary fruit infused water, blankets for alfresco dining and a selection of sweets in each room were a nice touch. The bistro also offered free WiFi to guests - a must for planning an itinerary!
Located only 20 minutes walk from the centre of Amsterdam, this Fab little hotel was situated in the ideal place for exploration. Just off tram line 4 and across from a little supermarket for late night snacks. We discovered many great restaurants only minutes away, of course, if 'Cafe's' are more your style there are three very close by in addition to the two smoking shops where a huge selection of pick or mix is available for...
Read moreWe booked a room for four persons and we really enjoyed our stay at this place. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Especially the breakfast service was good. The breakfast was served individually and the waiter brought us everything we needed. The room was clean and the beds were really comfortable. The atmosphere was nice and the whole place is really stylish. The reason I only give 4 stars is that there is no air conditioning and the room was very warm that day. In our room we couldn’t fully open our windows. Consequently there was hardly any fresh air coming in our room at night and it was too warm to sleep. But all in all we had a great stay here and I would...
