A few weeks ago, I flew to the Netherlands with my now Fiancé. It was only two days before that the Netherlands went into a commercial lockdown where most of the businesses would be closed. I had a ring ready for my future wife, but no solid plan on how I would propose. I was obviously very concerned that the lockdown would put a damper on the proposal experience.
But it was Rocco who saved the day. I simply googled private canal tour Amsterdam, and found Rocco's site. It specialized in a private boat tour on the canals of Amsterdam. It spoke of love, romantic song, champagne and snacks. It even had specific proposal packages...it was exactly what I needed. I literally reached out to Rocco only one day before, and said "hey man, please tell me you are free tomorrow, as I will be proposing". I was in need of a romantic miracle, and he responded promptly, and said he would be able to do it. Right there, I knew I had made the right decision, I could just feel it in my heart.
Amsterdam was empty, but it only added to the romance of it all. And now I had a private boat tour booked, where the canals would belong to us. We walked from our hotel to the pick up spot. We were greeted by the caring courteous Captain.
Rocco was his name, and romance was his game. The moment I met Rocco, I knew that our tour host was going to do everything he could to make the 90 minute boat ride, a journey of love into the commitment of our hearts. He was warm, accommodating, and understood that he would play witness to one of the most special moments of our lives. He told us love stories, played love songs, gave us lessons on love and even took photos/videos throughout the whole ride. The ride was calm and slow. The autumn leaves were lightly falling into the canal at sunset. The boat was warm and cozy. The snack setup was perfect. Just the right amount of bite sized snacks you would want. An array of cheese, fresh olives, crackers, sweets, and refreshments on a candle-lit table just for us. The night was set for a proposal.
However when i got on the boat, I realized that I had no idea the moment I should propose. Rocco caught on to this, (his romantic instinct is sharp)...and he explained that he would take us under several bridges, and then would be in a very calm quiet place on the canal to watch the sunset. He gave me a subtle nod, and it was understood that it would be that moment where I should propose, (without my fiancé being the wiser). It all went perfectly, to say the very least. I got down on one knee, professed my love, and popped the question...and she said YES! Rocco caught it all on video for us.
After the proposal Rocco popped out some delicious Champagne for us, and I shared a romantic toast with my new beautiful fiancé. It was magical in every essence, and was definitely a proposal out of a romantic movie. I am so proud how it all came together despite any covid complications. My Fiancé could not have been happier with the evening. It was some class A Romance in Amsterdam that night. I asked Rocco if there was ever a proposal rejection on his boat. He said he has a 100% proposal rate....and I have no doubts that a woman could ever say no on his Tour of Romance.
Thank you Rocco for everything. You went beyond expectations, and we were happy that is was you, who was part of our special day. When we return to Amsterdam we will contact you for another private canal tour. The love in our hearts will always flow through the canals of Amsterdam thanks to you. It was unforgettable experience that we will...
Read moreWe assumed we were signing up for a somewhat campy romantic canal tour... However this tour turned out to be so much more. This was a really special experience. Rocco is a thoughtful, genuine person who truly cares about his patrons, his city and especially its history. This canal tour truly made my fiancé and I realize that Amsterdam is so much more than the red light district. Rocco provides an excellent perspective on the DEEP history of the area in a truly romantic setting. It was nothing like we were expecting in the best way. Not only does he provide an excellent service, for an excellent price- it was something that we truly believe we couldn’t have experienced anywhere else. It was an hour and a half canal tour filled with delicious food and drinks, personal stories, and fascinating history. At one point we went to the exact perspective where Monet painted his “Canal in Amsterdam”. It was beautiful. Rocco’s storytelling was mesmerizing and passionate. Throughout our tour he emphasized the importance of silence and the peace it can bring between two people who love each other, using beautiful music (which he explained the reasons for his choices) he created moments that were one of a kind. We truly couldn’t have asked for anything more. Along with the breathtaking tour he provided a booklet of his favorite local romantic restaurants. We visited one, an Indonesian restaurant- Long Pura and had the most amazing meal with the most amazing staff, and were even given a delicious dessert on the house. All in all we couldn’t recommend this tour enough. It truly made us feel connected to each other, to Rocco, and most importantly to Amsterdam itself. If you’re a fan of storytelling, of art, romance, and of history- please do yourself a favor and...
Read moreFrom the moment I booked Rocco's light festival tour I was excited! Advertised as an intimate cruise along Amsterdam's picturesque backdrop I can assure you it does not disappoint. You are welcomed aboard with a glass of hot, spiced mulled wine. A delicious winter treat to warm the belly. (tea is also available) and a carefully selected assortment of Dutch snacks to tantalise the taste buds as Rocco captivatingly tells you tales from the city that you will remember long after you depart. The silent boat itself is enclosed with the possibility to open the windows for photo opportunities. Heated, cushioned seats and provided blankets make it all the more cosy to experience the brilliance of Amsterdam's lights by night. By the end of the tour I had smiled, laughed, ate, drank and made new companions. Would I do it again? Yes! In fact I tried to do it again with a friend from out of town. Sadly we didn't plan ahead and there were no spots left so we decided to do The Official Amsterdam Light Festival tour and what a bore that was. It was a completely impersonal experience. Like going to a late night diner on the side of the road wondering why you were sitting in a window letting time pass by. My friend actually fell asleep. I cannot recommend Rocco's Light Festival tour enough. Looking for something to do in Amsterdam no matter what the weather? Book a tour with Rocco and experience the beauty of Amsterdam in an intimate setting. Listen to stories and warm up with mulled wine. Meet people from near and far as you share an experience you will look back on for the rest...
